    Windows 7 for $19?

So I found out about this deal on another forum so I'm going repost it here since I successfully did it.

You sign up with acm.org and in like 3 days you can get Windows 7 for 19 bucks (or for free if you're on a college or university network).

Rather than rewrite it all I'll just repost:

All thank to Traian2003 on Redflagdeals.ca. I'm reposting his post below:

So if anyone is interested in getting access to the MSDNAA website this is the cheapest route. You get two copies of Windows 7, plus all the other software available. Posted below.

    - I'll keep this thread updated with more information if users post.

SlickDeals user Wikipost posted this (all credit should go to him):

ACM signup provides TWO licenses (2 English).

you can join ACM for $ 19 for a 1year membership with MSDN AA software access (same software)

    Thanks to versusqc:
Use this form and get a free calculator (while supplies last):
    https://campus.acm.org/public/QJStuW...m_type=Student

    http://campus.acm.org/public/quickjoin/interim.cfm --- original student membership form --- $ 19

    - sign up and ACM will send you log-in information
    - then you will have to wait till ACM lets you opt-in for MSDNAA membership --- it will take approx. 1 to 2 days --- to check if you can "opt-in", log in to "MyACM" and under the "My Services" tab you will find a light blue box saying "Access ACM’s Student Academic Initiative (SAI) Programs: Developer Academic Alliance (formerly MSDN AA), Sun Academic Initiative, and CA Academic Initiative" --- click on "Developer Academic Alliance" link in this box and if ACM has already processed your payment, you will be able to "opt-in" (however, you do not have to wait for the payment processed email ACM will sent you)
    - once you "opt-in", MSDNAA will send you their log-in info within 24 hours (check your junk mail folder - my email was buried in junk)
    - once you got your MSDNAA login info, you will be able to log-in here https://msdn01.e-academy.com/elms/Se...spx?campus=ACM and download your software

USERS REPORTING THE MSDN AA EMAILS GOING TO THEIR SPAM/TRASH BOXES SO CHECK THERE!

    FAQ:

    Quote:
    Q. Can students keep these tools after they graduate?
    A. Yes, this license is perpetual and nontransferable. You don’t have to uninstall the tools, but the stipulation of “academic use only” does not change. From MSDN AA Website (thanks to: i6s1)

Q: How long does it take to receive the log-on details?
    A: 1-2 days.

Q: Do you have to be a student to signup?
A: Technically, yes, but they don't ask for credentials.

Q: How many Windows 7 licenses do you get?
A: Four... two (Eng/Fre)for the x86 and two (Eng/Fre) for x64. But users are reporting that the keys are interchangeable.

Q: Where's Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint? Will they be available?
    A: Probably not.
    ************************************************** **********************************

Remember, this takes a bit time(1-2days) before they send you the log in information.
And if you're curious about what else the offer you can find the list in the posts below the one I reposted here: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=616349

    So, yeah. :O

I love MSDNAA. I've been using it for a few years now. I'll be grabbing 7 in a little bit after I get my desktop ready to install it on.

MSDNAA is the bee's knees. Thanks to MSDNAA I get everything except Office free. **** office, notepad is all I need. My college has some sort of deal set up so I don't even have to pay the $19. 8)

Well, apparently if you're on a school network you don't even need to pay to sign up. So...

there's a pretty good torrent going and if you had imgburn, you can do it yourself.

Duh, but it wouldn't be a legit copy. Which also requires another 'duh'.

I'm a high school senior. Or is this only for college students?
Either way, I'll ask my C++ teacher if I can use the school's computers to get this.

I already got the full version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 a few years ago through a program similar to this one, I think we only paid $31.50 for it. =) It would have been even cheaper, except I wanted the CDs. :P

Hmm, I might see if this is added to the list of MS stuff we can download from TTU. Otherwise, I'll just join the ACM this year and get membership there.
