    I don't know anymore..

Pretty darn sure this happens to EVERYONE, but
I'm in my senior years (Grade 10 is considered as senior in Australia) and I've reached the point where I have no idea which pathway I want to take.
I was pretty solid on going into something along the lines of Architecture/Engineering. I've done all my subject prerequisits, and I'm fully ready to keep going and eventually continue it at University, but I've already lost my passion for that industry.
Right now I'm thinking about Business Management/Hospitality/Tourism. Current dream is to own a family cafe, and maybe at some stage manage/own a hotel. Haha, who knows.

    Discuss!
Stuff that related to what I said up there ^^^

Business is the way to go..
It's not about the college, it's about the graduate school

Business related jobs look for experience more than school reputation etc

Hotel management at Cornell graduate school is nice.. aim for there.

Actually, I've confronted a few seniors in my high school and some of them said that they're going to take a 4-year college. They still didn't know what they wanted, so they'll take two years experimenting to see what will be their "cup of tea". If the worst case scenario happens, at least try to get a degree in liberal arts (english and comprehension basically). Studies have shown that many people go to college, but few actually finish successfully; competition is fierce for most wanted jobs. I wanted to be a video game developer, but many others want to have that job too so I wouldn't get paid much. This is why I still haven't decided on my profession yet.

Liberal Arts.. the worst way to go.. only like 1% end up getting satisfying jobs..

Business if you don't want to take huge risks (become a salaryman)
Pre-med/Law if you are willing to put the time into it..

of course, it should be higher (i was exaggerating - im sorry if i offended anyone - i was ignorant)

but from personal experience -- i've seen too many people -- family or friends or teachers whatever it be -- NONE of them have been happy with their jobs -- and those people majored in liberal arts.

Yeah? Got some proof for that? Otherwise don't talk like your speculation is fact.

To the OP, if you can, take a year off before college. I've recently gone through similair experiences as you and the only thing I regret is not taking my time with school.

You should never set youself up in a situation where you're expending you time and money with something you're not passionate about.

@OP: Best thing I can say is follow your dreams. The job I want, I'll probably be making <$45K/yr, but it's what I want to do, so I'm doing it.

As for me, I'm hoping to open a Hookah Bar right around where I live. The closest Hookah Bar is about an hour away and I know that place is always packed from kids coming from Downriver.

Would be nice to have the first Hookah Bar downriver and have no competition.

seeing that you're from australia.... I don't know too much about the military benefits there besides the most supreme naval bases they have there and the extremely nice construction projects that they manage globally, but call up your recruiter if you're at a stand-still (which looks like you are) but yeah, for schooling you should wait and get some experience at an internship or entry level job and pick up pointers from the veterans of the field.

p.s. internships can suck most supremely if you go into the wrong career field

Hahaha, yes! I love Hookah. xD

Yeah well, since I didn't feel this way (the whole change-of-mind thing) til I started my job in April. It's in the fast food industry, but I don't know. I got along with my manager really well and he'd always talk me through some of these things. And the people you can meet in the hospitality business are really great. Tourism was just on the side, my sister mentioned something about eventually being able to work overseas.
I might me starting a Uni/TAFE course soon, so I'll be going to high school 4 days/week and one day, I'll spend doing my course elsewhere. So basically, when I finish school I would have completed like half of my degree.
