      Re: wisdom teeth

I had all 4 teeth extracted a few weeks back. It really was a simple process for me. I had no swelling and the initial pain and stitches were gone after a few days.

The only suggestion I can make is don't do things they tell you not to too early. I smoked too few days after they were taken out and the pain from that was far worse than the initial pain itself.

Other than that it's a pretty speedy recovery. I got mine out on a friday and was back up and ready for school the following Monday.

I took my top 2 wisdom teeth out. There was no pain, except for a headache. All I took was tylenol the first day and the next. After that I took nothing, and it just felt a bit uncomfortable. No pain though. And after 1 week, everything was just fine. o.o

For everyone over here, I will like to throw some light on "How Are Wisdom Teeth Removed?"

The relative ease at which your dentist or oral surgeon can extract your wisdom teeth depends on their position. Your oral health care provider will be able to give you an idea of what to expect during your pre-extraction exam. A wisdom tooth that is fully erupted through the gum can be extracted as easily as any other tooth. However, a wisdom tooth that is underneath the gums and embedded in the jawbone will require an incision into the gums and then removal of the portion of bone that lies over the tooth. Oftentimes, for a tooth in this situation, the tooth will be extracted in small sections rather than removed in one piece to minimize the amount of bone that needs to be removed to get the tooth out.

The worst part for me wasn't being able to eat rice and other solid food. A week without rice felt suicidal. It was also the weekend of the Pacquiao vs Hatton fight. Instead of cheering loudly, I was moaning. As for the pain, it went away after a couple of days, and I had all four pulled out.
