I'm doing an economics project in school, and I'm collecting peoples opinions on PC gaming (flash games not included) vs Console gaming. So, which do you prefer? (reason not needed, but feel free to add it, it might give me some ideas).

Re: Survey: PC or Console
Why do flash games not count?
Also, what is the stance on emulating consoles on PCs?
Also, wrong forum.
Also, bad idea to take an anonymous survey on the Internet and expect to glean anything from it.
Also, also also also.

Re: Survey: PC or Console
PC, mainly because movement within 'First Person Shooters' seems more intuitive on a computer. Also, the time it takes for me to turn 180 degrees in-game on a computer is extremely fast relative to the time it takes on a console.
Also, aiming is easier on PC =)

Re: Survey: PC or Console
Each have their benefits, and I have both for different uses, though I prefer the PC's versatility..

Re: Survey: PC or Console
Well, it's easier to pirate **** on a computer, so PC gaming for me :v
I do like controllers a lot more, though, really, and the versatility of a console's location? I actually like portable gaming out of everything, though, come to think of it.

Re: Survey: PC or Console
This, and the fact that PCs can be endlessly customized in comparison to console systems gives PC gaming the win for me.
I own a PS2, but the TV I use is some really old piece-of-**** 27" CRT. In contrast, I frequently play first-person shooters on my HD-oriented computer system.

Console, because I only have a laptop now.
And my PS3 and 360 look pretty on my HDTV
And I also use the PS3 for internet, which is kinda the main reason I use the laptop too.Comment

Re: Survey: PC or Console
The idea of "HD" doesn't exactly translate on computers. Ever since I can remember, the lowest resolution people would actually use was 800x600, and that's already far beyond SD TV material. This, and the fact that PCs can be endlessly customized in comparison to console systems gives PC gaming the win for me.

These days, 1024x768 is the common low end it seems, and perhaps interestingly, that's also the vertical resolution that the low-end HD TVs have. Perhaps you just mean to say that you use a large HD TV as the monitor for your PC gaming?
Incidentally, anyone who says console over PC is only saying so because their PC is garbage or they haven't invested where one needs to. There is literally nothing a console can do better than a PC. The only leg-up consoles have are exclusive games, but emulation can defeat that given enough time.
But that's not a legitimate argument anyway. Software is software, hardware is hardware. If you're discussing the merits of the hardware, that's what you should look at, and frankly, consoles are just specialized computers that cannot be fully customized. I suppose one could argue in favor of the consoles having native standard controllers, but I don't think that matters too much; it's not difficult to use a 360, Wii, or PS2 controller on your PC, and things are even more openended thanks to all of the specialty control sticks, keyboards and controllers that are made specifically for PC gaming.

Re: Survey: PC or Console
I'm confused as to what you mean. HD certainly does translate on computers. Aside from the HD standards, HD usually relates to higher resolution. There are many HTPCs out there whose cards are built to output at 1920x1080 resolution and are outfitted with blu-ray drives to play at full-res. The typical highest resolution people use for monitors is 1900x1200. Not many use 2048x1536, and that's the highest resolution most 30" monitors can deal with.
Also, you're forgetting who the target audience is. For you and I, when we have the know-how to deal with computers, a computer is superior in many ways. For the gamer who wants plug-and-play and simply doesn't have the aptitude, the console can be a great alternative. The reason this survey is out is it's more of "which is better for you?" instead of "which is objectively better?" It wouldn't need to be a survey if it weren't subjective..

Re: Survey: PC or Console
Well, assuming there are games that I can't play on the PC (or least, don't know how) and games I would never want to play on a console (practically any FPS), it's hard to give a definite answer, at least for me.
But for games that I could either play on a console or a PC, I'd go PC every time. So, yeah, PC.
