    I got in a car accident..

    I'm trying to make a long story short, so bare with me. I ended up clipping a guy's left rear bumper at a stop sign when he stopped too soon (by meaning, he stopped really fast a good 10ft from the white line). After I hit him, I freaked the **** out. I stopped somewhat next to him after I clipped him and he glared at me like he was going to beat the living hell out of me. The guy seemed to be in his 20s, with a beanie and a rain jacket on. He took a right turn at the stop sign and went right. Instead of following him, I went straight. I went (as fast as I legally could) home and told my parents. We went out and searched for the guy, but we couldn't find him. We called the police when we got home and all of our information and reports of the accident were taken down. Ironically, the other driver didn't report anything, so the police have nothing to work with other than my report. Due to this, nothing is happening. If the other driver calls in by tomorrow, it's a hit and run, and I'm ****ed. My Mom took away my car keys and is pretty mad at me for freaking out like that. Thoughts?

      Why didnt you get out of the car when you hit him to talk to him?
      Why didnt you follow him to get his information?

      I hope for the best for you though. It would really suck for it to be filed as a hit and run
      Lets hope he doesnt call.



      BTW, is your car damaged at all?

          Shouldn't have driven off, that was pretty silly.

          You shouldn't talk down to people you don't know anything about, acting like you know more and then try to show them up in the forum. That's how you get absolutely no where.

              Like I said, I freaked out. Got scared out of my mind. Don't think I've been that scared in my life before.

              Yeah, it is. Good size dent on the front right of my car, right over the wheel. Front passenger door is jammed shut, now, too.

                  Yeah, I just recently got into a small accident as well, and I was a little freaked out.

                  Some guy hit me in the bumper. Obviously, you shouldn't have driven away. Definitely illegal. =X. No matter what the circumstance, if there is an accident and you're involved, you stop and wait for the police, whether the other person is there or not.

                  I hope things work out for you though dude, don't want to lose your license or something. People don't think straight when they're freaked out. D:

                          I was /really/ hoping for a huge elaborate story instead of a fender bender. Oh well, hope everything goes alright, though.

                              Thanks for the support. I knew all the laws that I should have done, but I was so scared that all I wanted to do was go home. Sadly enough, that was the last thing I should have done.

                              It is possible that I lose my license, though.

                                  I don't understand why your first instinct would be to run and hide when you knew the consequences. Personally I own up to whatever I've done and let the chips fall where they may.

                                          At least you reported it after leaving the scene maybe they'll cut you mercy for that one.
                                          Understandable that you freaked out, but a stupid thing to do nonetheless. You did the right thing afterwords.

                                          I was recently in a slight crash myself. Just a dent to their car and a big scratch on my friend's mom's (Her mom was driving.) I can't sit in a car and go through an intersection without being nervous. XD Luckily no one was hurt eh?

                                          I will probably never say this again, but I hope the other guy's an idiot and doesn't call it in for your sake.

                                                      I would've stayed shut, Ive done 2 hit and runs (1 accidentally and 1 purposely) and im still fine. Just be quick.
