Limited or not connection activity or whatever

Ok so this just recently started happening to my computer. I google'd ways to fix this but came up with nothing. I changed my internet cable thinking my wires just got messed up and started acting funny, still nothing. I can't download music at all on Limewire because of this. Is there anyway I can fix this?
You can post here, but if you know how to fix it I'd rather you IM me at either msn or aim

That usually happens when you have problems with your network settings. Are you on a LAN/WAN or just a direct connection to your modem? If you're on a network, often times two systems will try and use the same IP and that results in an IP conflict.

Did you restart your system and restart your network/modem? That's the first thing you should always do.

Also a simple restart of the router can fix the issue of sharing IP.

A restart as in turn off and back on or what
I tried that and limewire still finds no songs.

            What they said.
Also, sometimes you should let it sit about a minute or so (for my router) and 5 minutes for my modem. Works for me anyway.

If you can get on the internet then you don't have an internet issue. This sounds like a port or firewall issue imo.

Re: Limited or not connection activity or whatever

Sounds like it could be a port problem to me too. Fixing it is different for each modem / router, but not too much.

You need to go to the URL bar and type in something like 192.168.0.255. Sometimes it's something like 192.168.1.254... it depends on your router. You'll have to try a bit with the last two numbers.

If you get into your modem / router settings, find a firewall or port forwarding section. In this section, you should be able to open up a port for the IP you are currently using. You'll have to make sure it's the same port Limewire is trying to use to download. You may also have to type in a password too.

Sorry if this advice is kind of general, but it's hard to tell each person how to do it exactly because each modem / router is a bit different.

                    Try 1 for it.

Also, go to www.portforward.com, it'll have all the routers and how to forward your ports there.

You shouldn't talk down to people you don't know anything about, acting like you know more and then try to show them up in the forum. That's how you get absolutely no where.

Each router brand usually has a standard username/password.

He said he's connected directly to his modem, he wouldn't have to port forward. Your internet seems to be working fine, so it sounds like a firewall issue.
