    Firefox 3 Issues

So, I was using Firefox a couple of days ago when it suddenly crashed on me. First thing I thought to do was to restart it, but instead of it working properly, it says, "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

CTRL+ALT+Delete, check processes. Nothing there, no firefox.exe located in there. Tried to restart my computer, and the same message came up.

Afterward, I tried to do a system restore back one day, to when it was working, but to no avail.

I even tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but it still has not worked.

I'm not sure how to unhang the browser, I've looked up the issue, and I don't have anything to follow, no profile folder or anything.

Someone mind helping me out? =(

    Re: Firefox 3 Issues

Did you install over Firefox 2 and/or create a separate profile for Firefox 3? I'm using 2 and 3 now because of all the compatibility problems with Firefox 3.0. If all else fails, how are you set for virus and spyware protection? There could be a malicious program affecting your browser.

I've had a lot of problems with Firefox 3.0.5, unfortunately. It never knows when a page has finished loading, so the animated loading circle keeps spinning. The newest beta also has this problem. I have the three versions in separate folders and profiles so they will all play nice

      Re: Firefox 3 Issues

Currently running a constantly updated NOD32 anti-virus. NOD doesn't normally conflict with it, and my firewall settings haven't really changed.

I'm also thinking something else: if firefox.exe isn't showing up other than the error message, wouldn't that mean that FF 2 would give me the same problems?

I'll take a look at NOD.

      EDIT: What the ****?

I don't know about this, and I can't seem to get it working. Even though it may not relate to FF's problem, that is something out of the ordinary too. I think I'm gonna leave my computer scanning all night to find anything that may be wrong. =(

Oh I think that has something to do with your system 32 folder

          Old joke is old

And I've had that happen to me on FF before, but never for that long.

...you of ALL people should know that I'm not gonna fall for that. (PS, dumb joke is dumb).

            I still haven't gotten it to work. >_>;

EDIT: Fixed the problem with my anti-virus as far as the malfunctioning area of the module, but still no fix for Firefox. =/

EDIT2: I lost the game. Thanks, Wolfy. XD

It's happened to me before, but it usually resolves in about 20 seconds.

Just FYI, I have a program called the Unlocker. It unlocks processes that are being used so that you can modify/delete them. Not telling you to download it, but it's proved to be very useful to me.
If you decide to try it, use at your own risk, as I say with all of my suggestions.

                Re: Firefox 3 Issues

I do have a Mozilla install on me, so that actually might work.

Also, funny thing about that unlocker--my friend from Hitmanforum got someone to use the unlocker and delete their System32 folder. I lol'd.

Here's the thing though, will it get FF to work? It's not showing up under my processes. Anyway, a link to the program would be greatly appreciated.

                  Re: Firefox 3 Issues

I have this problem here and there, but only when my com freezes up playing a flash game like FFR and it wont load, and when i exit off, it is still running for a few secs, then goes away, so I have to wait a min to re-boot. I only had to restart my com once. Wonder what you problem is, I have never heard it go for that long.

You could use Portable Firefox in the meantime. It works off of one folder, so just use it on your computer (you don't need a flash drive). Here's a link:
