How to Open With Zipped Folders

I recently stepped a file for SM but everytime I try to open the folder it uses notepad for its default.

Does someone know how to re-set it to 'Open With' zipped folder? I went to google searches but to no avail.

Go to "Choose Default Program" and navigate to your compression utility of choice (Winzip/Winrar). Once you find it on your disk, run it. From then on it will always appear under "Open With".

Just try and re-do the process. Go and export you file, then when it comes out as the .smzip use Winrar to get the folder out of it, or just open the folder in the .smzip and create your own folder and drag all the insides of the winrar version and place it into the folder you made. Dont know if this has anything to do with your problem, but this is the only way I know how to get a file out of SM. XD

I don't know how to change it to 'Zipped Folder', but If you want to look around your computer for that program, then go to 'Choose Default Program' after highlighting 'Open With' and Click Browse when a box shows up and displays several types of programs. Then maybe you can find it. :P

I think it'd be easier to find info on EVERYTHING about sm/charts/simfiles/and other crap in Stepmania et al. It helped me by a LOT. Good luck with your charts!

You can just go to Send To > Compressed Zip Folder and then you're done. That's very simple, it works for me.

I might try that also, but Sullyman reminded me of a WinZip program I can download to use as a default. Everything works fine now.

I'd use Winrar or at least some other kind of archiving program that would let you open compressed files other than .zip.

You know, there should really be a computer help subforum.

I've been screaming for that for months now. Maybe even years. Oh and happy 4.999k.

Right click the file, go to properties, and it should give you the name of the file, type of file, and a box that says "Opens With:". Click "Change", and set it to whatever program you want. Now, all files of the same type as the one you just changed will by default open with that program.

I would argue that a computer help sub-forum seems out of place, but look at some of the sub-forums like Critical Thinking, Literature, and Media. They don't remotely pertain to FFR, but to the community. We get a fair amount of technology related threads like Web browser discussion, computing problems (like this one), questions on buying computers, and even this newer thread. I think a sub-forum solely dedicated to Computers is way too vague to be actively used, but rather a Technology sub-forum would be better.
