    Upgrade HD (PS3)

Alright, so basically... I have 1 gig left on my PS3 (The 20gig models). This is pretty much by downloading a ****load of DLC's for Rock Band.

Anyways, I NEED to put in a new HD, so I was wondering... Is it's just any regular PC HD?

I also need to know if there's a way to transer everything, because I really don't want to lose all my data I can't even download the Metallica pack for GHWT because I need 1060 mb's and I have 1100, but it still won't let me download it (even after buying it).

    Can anyone help :/

Yes any harddrive will do your ps3 will reformat the harddrive to work. I'd suggest using the backup utility on the ps3 it's somewhere in the settings tab. Back it up on a flash drive or something and put it on your pc if it's more than your drive can hold at once.

Also there are lots of videos and tutorials out there that help with this tremendously just do a simple search for it and you'll find something pretty fast.

Before you go out and buy a HD for a PC, know this.

The HD's in the PS3's are 2.5" SATAs. Most drives that PCs (meaning desktops) use are 3.5". You want a laptop drive, not a desktop drive.

Also, yes, back it up somehow, whether with an external hard drive (assuming you have one formatted to FAT32), or through file transfers with a flash drive.

And finally, your data, in terms of DLC wouldn't be lost. All your DLs are saved under your PSN in the store. Sure, it would be all sorts of a pain in the ass, but if something gets screwed up, its nice to know it still exists. Game data you could easily back up to a computer.

EDIT: Just did some quick googling, and it seems that you cant use the Flash Drive multiple times to back up everything. In other words, use an external if you want to back up the entire system, use a flash drive if you want to back up only a few, select things.
