Getting rid of a virus, help

[19:24] ausernameforaim: it completely wrecked my windows security center (as in i cant see it, its supposably running). It kept saying my automatic updates were off, but i could nothing about it.....
[19:25] ausernameforaim: then when I managed to look on the internet disregarding the popups, i found something i could use in the run prompt thing. (services.msc) I saw that the automatic updates were disabled. I went to fix it to automatic, but it came up with an error (I know how to fix it, its just that the virus procceeds to disable it i guess)
[19:27] ausernameforaim: Now every time I open the internet, I get either annoying popup windows, or an occasion of multiplying tabs of sites (Im not going to guess what sites since I was working offline thinking it would do something) and wouldnt stop until I opened the task manager and ended the task
[19:28] ausernameforaim: Im running Norton and going on a full virus scan and managed to find one called backdoor.Tidserv!inf and it supposably requires manual removal. I found where it was located, but I cant seem to find the local settings file
[19:28] ausernameforaim: doesnt exist to me, could be hidden, etc etc i need help
    [19:28] ausernameforaim: thanks
[19:29] ausernameforaim: Oh and I found the virus cause the pop ups, but I forgot what it was called
[19:29] ausernameforaim: oh and say that everything of mine is running slowwer
    [19:30] ausernameforaim: again thanks

Yep, that's about it. He's using norton and I gave him a link to avast dl but the popups slowed it down and he couldn't get to it. Anyone have an installer for a virus program you can send him?
If you wanna contact him his aim is:
