    Computer is acting up

It started I want to say, last night. I didn't download anything at all. I go to edit a picture in MS Paint and I need a colour that wasn't on the board so I double click a colour, and the mouse says it's thinking for like half a second, then does nothing. I click File, the Save As, and it does nothing. I close the program, and it makes the sound like when you add a file to Stepmania.

In Internet Explorer, I open a new tab and the row with my File Edit View Favorites Tools Help goes missing, and it messes up.

I click Start in the bottom left, then Internet, and again it says it's thinking for like half a second then does nothing. I can't have more than one Internet Explorer open at a time, or else they won't work. Did I do anything wrong?

Sounds like a classic case of System32. Go to your C: drive and open your windows folder. If there's a folder called System32, (you may have to enable the option to view hidden folders, it's a tricky bastard) delete it and restart your computer. That should have it running smoothly again.

What is wrong with people these days...
I'm sure you aren't stupid enough to do ether of the two above things...

It sounds to me like a corrupt registry, but I could be wrong. Try CCleaner, Registry Booster, or RegistryFix 7.0.
Clearing up temp files and other things using these programs or the tools in C: properties might help as well.

Your problem seems a little vague, but definitely sounds like a registry issue.

Try restarting before anything else. Simple fixes sometimes work.
Funny stuff goes in this area right?

On the opposite end of the severity spectrum, system restore pretty much always works if you can't be bothered to find a less intense solution.

In my history of using computers System Restore has NEVER worked. It ether messes up the registry even further, or normally just fails to do anything at all.

Ok, so none of these works, and the only problem I'm having now is the MS Paint one. It says it failed to create an empty document.

In any situation where I've had a problem I couldn't solve through any other means, System Restore fixed it perfectly every time. Even when I uninstalled a program that somehow managed to delete the keyboard driver, system restore fixed it up.

Uh...system32 contains a lot of important system files. Deleting it is bad. Yes, viruses can nest there, but it's better to clean those out separately.

Try and redownload MSPaint from MS. Or, just get Paint.NET. It's like Paint on crack, but without the bulkiness of Pshop/GIMP.

I'm pretty sure Tibs was being sarcastic, but in any event, it's not possible to delete system32 because many of the files are in use. You'd get an error telling you so if you even tried to delete it.

As far as redownloading MS Paint, I had this idea earlier and searched briefly, and didn't find any quick and easy links, so I took it upon myself to upload the exe file I have in my own system32 folder. You can download it from Megaupload here if you want to. Or, try Microsoft's page.

It could be that your default image types have been changed, but I don't have a clue how to change that especially when it's within paint... o.O

Just download another program like Paint.net or Gimp.

So I restarted, and it's fine again, but now the File Settings Help etc~ is in a little drop down thing on the left, and it's bugging me, how do I maximize it to the tray.
