This may be old news but I found this one day browsing and thought of filling everyone in...
Waaayy back in the summer of 1997 The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), a sound was detected by their hydrophones...or underwater microphones.
The hydrophones were set up to listen for soviet submarines during the cold war.
The sound heard went at a range large enough to hit multiple sensors more than 3000 mi (5000 km) apart.
Scientists studying to the sound say it matches the audio profile of a living creature, but whatever made that sound would have to be many times larger than a blue whale, the currently largest known animal on earth.
Rumor had it that the Japanese went to the spot where the sound originated
50° S 100° W with chum and cameras. After which, the cameras were never released to public.
Think what you want but it really bugs me to think that there could be something multiple times bigger than a blue whale that we don't know about
The Original noise heard
