When I did GCSEs, the big exams you do here before you leave school at 16, I kinda gave up the last 2 years of school too concerned about social life. But kinda pulled it off with some things. You need C or above to have it classed as a pass.

        English Lang: C
        English Lit: C
        Maths: G
        Double Award Science: FF
        Welsh: PASS
R.E: C - I can never worked out how I passed this when I didn't turn up for the exam.
        Geography: C
        Business Studies: B
        Media Studies: C
        ICT: B

Re: How do you usually do on report cards?

Just as a heads up for people who seem to not know:

Number grades corresponding to letter grades are COMPLETELY INCONSISTANT across not even just the canada/us divide, but even within states, and school boards.

Some schools call 95+ an A, some schools call 90+ an A, some schools call 80+ an A etc etc etc. A given schoolboard especially in the US can basically make the grade system work however the hell they want. This is why the US has many more standardized tests of significance than Canada does.

The grading system in each province is internally consistant, and in many cases, the consistancy is across the country. As a result, we don't have any major equivalent to the SATs. The main reason the SATs exist in the US is that a) Your grades mean absolutely nothing out of context and b) You need a way to rank way way more people every year than Canadian universities do.

The thing you have to realise is that if you're willing to suggest that the standards are the same, such that "A-level work" is "A-level work" no matter to whom you submit it, then if your 'A' bracket is 95-100% and mine is 80-100%, then something I submit for an 80% here would get me a 95% there, not 'not an A' there.

Oh, also. Considering that in Ontario highschools, 'A' starts at 80%, I applied to University with a 94% average, which in many of your systems sounds more like it would be a 98 or 99%

Re: How do you usually do on report cards?

This thread just went down the toilet.

Anyway, I think every school is different. I always thought people should base how well they are doing in comparison to how their peers are performing, since it reflects how well the teachers are presenting the curriculum and the overall motivation of the student body...
If you are getting an A-...but the majority of your class is as well I don't find that impressive. If you have a C average and the majority of the students are failing, then bravo!

Re: How do you usually do on report cards?

              Yeah devonin. In our school board, <50 is an R (fail), 51-59 is a D, 60-69 is a C, 70-79 is a B, 80-100 is A

              Also for the A grade:

              80-88 is an A-
              89-95 is an A
              95-99 is an A+
              100 is an A++

Well, something like that at least.

Re: How do you usually do on report cards?

I've never really felt like sharing my grades online because more than half the time people just do it to boost their e-ego.

On average by now I have like a 3.7 or something, but then again that doesn't mean anything because every single school has a different way of calculating GPA. I did marginally well my first two years of high school and did pretty poorly my Junior year because I signed up for classes that ended up having a lot more work than I'd expected.

Right now I have all A's, a C+, and an I (in band lmfao)

The thing that impressed me the most of my report card was that I got 0 absences for the quarter. Every year prior to this I've had close to 25 for the entire year, so this is a huge improvement for me haha.
I bring my math homework to church. It helps me find a higher power.

I usually get AAA's, but if the classes are 14-footers, I might get AA's instead, depending on whether or not there are awkward seating arrangements.

                              I usually get C's, D's, and F's.

Been a couple years since I have gotten a B.

Haven't received an A since I was in elementary.

Wow, your a complete moron. Just because you know nothing about the country neighboring your own, doesn't means its special-ed.
                                FYI.
                                A 80−100 Level 4 Above government standards
                                B 70−79.9 Level 3 At government standards
C 60−69.9 Level 2 Below, but approaching government standards
D 50−59.9 Level 1 Well below government standards
F 0−49.9 — Failing standards (used in high schools)
R Remedial standards (used in elementary schools)

Our grading is different than yours in America. An 80 in Canada is a repectable mark.
I also got my midterm today, i have advaced functions, religion(mandatory in my school ), and geography.
I got an 87 in advanced function
                                86 in religion
                                91 in geography.

Edit: sorry about that rant, he was talking about a different country. I thought you were talking about canada. Ya Canadias pretty special-ed.....O.o
