I just downloaded a simfile pack, but it says it's a .rar. What is it, and where do I download it?

7zip is the best one of the best decompression programs...download LINK

Once it's installed, right-click on the rar file, go to 7zip options, and click decompress (or something other similar process). The files will appear, and life will be good.

Edit: 7zip is pretty much universal in terms of file formats and there's little to no hassle involved in using it, which is why it's awesome.

My computer came with WinRAR on it. Have you tried just right-clicking on the file and selecting "Extract Here" or to whatever directory you want?

Try http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe for the download. It's free to download, as as far as I know, the trial never expires. After that, it should be really intuitive.

For future reference, searching the file extension plus "extension" in Google will get you the information instantly.
