On my external harddrive, I had several folders with names starting in Japanese letters (埼玉最終兵器Saitama Saishuu Heiki and はなわくせいHanawakusei). All of a sudden, my EHD fails to recognize the existence of the folders, and I can't find them even with the search function. However, I know they're there because: 1) After I move the visible contents out of the folder, I can't remove the folder due to the message "The directory is not empty" and 2) The occupied space doesn't match the amount visible in the folder.
Folders that have Japanese but don't begin in Japanese letters are visible. It's just the folders starting in Japanese that aren't recognized.
Any ideas?
This is not happening on my computer. Only on my EHD. LaCie 500GB.
