Well someone was trying to tell me how to use wave in/out recording and what not (no idea about any of this) and hes like THE WAVE IN OPTION IS RIGHT THERE UNDER RECORDING PROPERTIES and I told him that I dont have that option at all all i have is stereo mix, line in, rear out and microphone. Any ideas on how to get this **** working?

click properties
click wave
click ok

This is only the most simple thing ever.
Go back to the volume properties, kitten. Go options and properties, and click the "Recording" bobble/button/thing. You see that box beneath it, the one that says "Show the following volume controls"? Tick the box with Wave next to it. Then hit Ok.
Then, in the recording volume window, click the tick beneath Wave and up the volume. Simplistic and golden.
