    Post Your Town's "Hauntings"

I dunno, just wanted to get into the mood for Halloween. It's a really big deal here. Our school colours are Black and Orange, and stuff, and I'll go first obviously. (Go Slicers~~!) Got this from a site I found from Google:

    LaPorte

415 Virginia Ave. - A house was built here in 1856 and burnt down in 1885. A little girl was in the house when the fire happened and she died. The house was rebuilt and later became an apartment complex in 1950. People who have lived in the apartments over the years have seen a girl about the age of 15 or so that is all burned up. Things in the apartment will move by themselves, a long with cabinet doors and front doors opening and closing by themselves.

Belle Gunness House - You can sometimes hear people screaming. You sometimes will also feel very cold.

Downtown - 'I' and 10th Street Clinic - Was on route for Trail of Tears where the Indians had stopped and made camp. It is said that a young girl died in the winter during their stay. Now it's a Clinic up top a small hill across the street from La Porte High School Baseball Field on 'I' and 10th Streets. People say that the elevator is played with, also the lower level bathroom is often locked from inside with no windows leading outside, and various objects moving across rooms (my understanding- chairs mostly).

Fountainview Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation - this nursing home is haunted. A woman was found on the floor, she did not fall out of the bed because both bed rails were still up. It is said that the nursing home was built over an ancient Indian burial ground.

Hangman's road/ Orelake - On this road, a young couple was driving home from a date when all of a sudden, their car broke down. The young man went for help while the girl sat in the car. When the man returned he couldn't find his girlfriend. He figured she had gone to look for help also. A drop of blood dripped on the windshield and he looked up above his car to find the girl hanging from a tree. People have seen ghosts hanging, weird things in the woods, and since the site is right next to a swamp, they say it is very creepy. It is a popular place for breakdowns and a lot of people have been killed there by car accidents.

Hook Mans Road - A small road which is said to be haunted by a old ghost of a pirate, who lived out in the country in some woods. If you go out there at night in the woods by the old huge house you can sometimes see an old guy with one hand and a hook on the other. It is said that many people have died out there.

Laporte Cinema - The legion at the La Porte Cinema is to be haunted by a young girl from 12-15 years of age. A cleaning crew once said that they saw her face in the floor tile and she has only appeared in a certain room. Three stories follow that reason. One: there was a pond and she had fallen into the lake and drowned to her death, second: A tiny carnival was once there and she had fallen off the Ferris wheel and died right after hitting the ground. The last one was: there was a house that the girl lived in with her family, and somehow a fire broke out at night and she slept right through it.

Laporte High School - Well in the girls restroom on hallway one, toilets will flush and water will run without there being anyone in there. Outside by a pillar there are cold spots and odd smells. Odd things like the electricity shutting off and banging on lockers also occurs.

Laporte Medical Building - Doors have been known to open and shut, and a figure of an Indian maiden has been seen. This was the site of one of the old Indian burial grounds.

Patten Cemetery - Victims of the Belle Gueniss murders are buried here, one of the worst murders ever in the state of Indiana . There is also said to be a killer who was executed buried in the same cemetery. It is said that if you knock over his grave stone he will come and find you.

Posey chapel and cemetery - A century and a half ago a church was burnt down and the preacher hung himself from a tree as you enter the gate. At night you can see the activity under the pavilion that is where the chapel once stood. Red eyes can be seen and a red light of some sort can be seen moving through the woods. Also many orbs are seen in this area, you may also hear a woman singing and someone playing a guitar in the background.

Soldiers Memorial Park - The walking trials of this park are haunted by a 9 year old boy that drowned in Stone Lake in 1930 right by the bridge.

I wish I could get samplings of specter sightings... but unfortunately, my town is horrorless. <_<

Well in Fredericksburg, which is like Civil War battleground territory, there's quite a bit to be expected, really too lazy to find them all, but you should get the idea that there's a ton of soldier haunting BS

Located on the Grand River, within the Region of Waterloo, you will find the city of Cambridge, which is one of the subjects for this article on haunted tales in the Ontario, Canada region. The other city we will take a look at is called Chatham, which can be found in the southwestern section of Ontario. Its history can be traced back to the 1790s when the area was used as a naval dockyard.

When visiting Cambridge, you will find that there is a Dead Mans Drop in the area. It is a rather large and deep hill that took the life of a man, who went over it and slammed into a large wall on the other side. Where road used to cover a patch of grass, some say his ghost can be seen driving in that area, going at quite a fast speed.

At the Preston Springs Hotel in Cambridge, you will encounter many different odd scenes that occur in the area. When night has settled, about 2am, nearby restaurants have reported the strange faces of individuals looking at them from the windows on the upper floors of this site. Although no power is turned on in the building, lights have been seen flickering on the premises. People who live in the houses surrounding the hotel claim that figures have walked about the grounds, as well as in the stairwell section of the building. Some say that these same figures have been known to disappear, as they have gotten closer to them.
This is taken from this site.

I also know a story my teacher told us about our high school I currently attend (Galt Collegiate Institute). Supposedly, one of the janitors were working late at the school. During his regular cleaning, he heard a weird noise. It was the sound of a cracking chair. A rocking chair, going back and forth. He entered the class from which he heard the noise, and it was empty. The noise had continued to stop as well. He thought it may have been just something he was hearing, such as squirrels in the vents. He then left the room and locked it.

As he went to clean up the rest of the school, he went past the room. To his shock, he heard it again. He entered the room and the chair was rocking back and forth. All the windows were closed, and the vents had no air at all going through it. He examined the room closely, and there was no one there or any sign of it having a reason to rock. He touched the chair gently, and it stopped. He let go, walked to the door, and the chair tipped OVER! No one there, and nothing except a person is strong enough to tip that wooden chair.

What my teacher said was they thought it was the ghost. I can't recall his name, but I know his last name was Tassie. Apparently he jumped off the top of the school a long time ago, and his ghost still haunts the place. There have been frequent reported cases of odd things happening, but I won't explain them all. They are all odd occurrences that could not have happened. Things that didn't follow the laws of physics, per se. Very odd, but interesting.

I love going to this school as there are so many stories behind it. It's very interesting.

These are off of a site so some seem a little bit phoney, but in bold is what I believe is true because my friends and I visited and witnessed some weird ish.

Brooklyn - Greenpoint - McCarren Park - There used to be a pool here where a little girl drowned, she is seen roaming the area at night calling for help.

Brooklyn - Highland park - Ghostly apparitions of a woman and her child have been seen and have caused many auto accidents.

Brooklyn - Oriental Manor - Catering Hall - the place is haunted by two guys and a girl. At night you can hear walking (foot steps), and doors shutting. It's possible that they were killed there and brought down to the basement by the alleged mafia people who owned it years ago. (this place is within walking distance from our house)

Brooklyn - Most Holy Trinity Church - January 2006: New information has been issued for this haunting, the submission has been rewritten.
The church was built between 1882 and 1885; the school, built in 1887, is located on a site that had been a cemetery from 1841 until 1853. The church's first two pastors, priests who had been Vicar Generals of the Brooklyn Diocese, are buried in a crypt under the narthex of the church. There are mysterious passageways on the "triforium" level of the church where it is said that only priests are able to enter. Originally posted for this haunting it was mentioned Bishops where buried here, this is untrue. NO BISHOPS WERE EVER BURIED AT THE CHURCH. The church property covers an entire city block; it is said that there are false closets leading to tunnels throughout the church and convent. Mysterious sub-basements and bricked-up doorways suggest concealed passageways. It is said that run-away slaves used these areas to hide when escaping to the North. A number of people have died while praying in the church. The church's second pastor built the church's rectory in 1872; he died in the building while sleeping in his second-floor room in 1895; the same room is used as a guest room by the priest who live in the building today. No-one wishes to take up permanent residence in the room in which the priest died. Guests have claimed to have heard strange noises and the sounds of someone walking back and forth while staying in the room. It is said that loud footsteps can be heard up and down the four floors of stairs at late hours of the night. Dogs have been known to stare, as in a trance, at the stairs leading to the basement and into the dining room when it has been very cold in the house. It always feels like other people are in the building, even when someone is alone there. The lights in the school gym have been known to go on and off without any reasonable explanation. At night, it is said that voices, and the sounds of people walking back and forth, can be heard in the school building. George Stelz, the parish sexton and bell ringer, was murdered in the vestibule of the church in August of 1897; while there was a prime suspect in the crime (a man who had been a parishioner of Trinity, and who was eventually executed for a different murder), no-one was ever convicted of the Stelz murder. The blood of Mr. Stelz, as well as the bloody hand-print of the murderer, are said to be still on the wall in a stairway leading to the bell tower. It is said that the spirit of Mr. Stelz roams the building and will do so until the crime is solved. The name of Mr. Stelz appears in a stained glass window he had donated to the church twelve years before his murder. The bells to the church are said to ring sometimes without explanation; it is believed that the ghost of Mr. Stelz rings the bells in order that people will not forget him after all these 109 years since his murder. For more information about the church, Check out the Trinity web site at mhtbrooklyn.org

Brooklyn - Shadows - Located in sunset park Brooklyn, It's an old monastery where priests and nuns still live. On certain nights there's a window on the left side where you can see the shadow of a nun and the window beneath her you can see the shadow of her son. Supposedly many years ago a priest that lived there raped the nun she than became pregnant and killed herself and her son. There are rumors of a women crying and images of a nun sitting in a rocking chair by a window.

Both copied from www.ghostsofamerica.com, with spelling corrections. Only because I don't really know any ghost stories from my area. :P

At the end of Carroll Street there is a canal with train tracks nearby. On the other side of the train tracks you can hear children laughing underneath the trestle. The laughing goes on and on all night long but stops during the day. Legend has it that a couple of kids were playing on the bank and fell into the frigid water. They were caught in an undertow and drowned.
Hmm... my great-grandmother lives on Carroll Street, and she's a mean old bitch. She probably drowned the kids herself. XD

There are several ghosts in a group near an old wagon crossing area on the South Santiam River just off of Brewster Road. You can't see them, but you can hear them talking quite clearly often at night. You cannot quite make out the words they are saying, but they are having a lively conversation. People I've discussed this with believe they may be talking about crossing the river. These ghosts aren't hostile, but they will creep you out a bit.
Maybe it was an old campsite, and that was the group's last conversation before they were ravaged by wolves or something...? But there's no wolves around here.

EDIT: Whoa, I just remembered one that somebody told me.
Apparently in the 1940s, a Lebanon Middle School student hung herself in a classroom on the upper floor because she was getting bullied or something. For decades afterward, people have said at night that they can hear an miserable scream coming from the upper floor when driving by, as well as odd blue flashes coming from a window.
The school was closed down in 1996, and the building was torn down around 2002 to make room for a new library being built on the site right now. I wonder if the spirit will carry on to haunt the new library?

Considering the size of Toronto, there is lots of hauntings.

As for my school, Room 309 is said to be haunted. (Also happens to be my media classroom).

It is the only room in the entire school without a cross (it's a catholic school) , and whenever people have installed a cross, it has fallen infront of everyone. Nails, duct tape, nothing worked. so we just gave up on putting on a cross.

Also, room 309 has 2 Edit Rooms with big windows in both of them. There's been sightings of a girl in Edit Room 1, and when the door was opened to let her out she disappeared. I personally have never seen this so I can't say this one's real.

Though room 309 has its stories

Bluearrowll = The Canadian player who can not detect awkward patterns. If it's awkward for most people, it's normal for Terry. If the file is difficult but super straight forward, he has issues. If he's AAAing a FGO but then heard that his favorite Hockey team was losing by a point, Hockey > FFR
