    computer help

hey let's roleplay ok i'm 87x here goes

    Here's the system I built:

    MB: EVGA nForce 750i FTW
    OS: Vista 32b
RAM: OCZ 4gb 1066 or something it doesn't matter probably
    Processor: Intel C2 Quad 2.66

The issue is that the integrated sound on the motherboard is fickle as hell. I installed the drivers and codecs and got it working for a few days, then it stopped recognizing that I had any audio devices at all when 3 are integrated. Then today, it worked this morning, but this afternoon, it was repeatedly disconnecting my main audio jack. I restarted, and we're back at "No audio devices are installed".

I've reinstalled the codecs and drivers but they only work temporarily if at all.

    help

I would say "get XP" but I don't think that this is actually the problem.

My first piece of advice would be to say that if it is free, get a new mobo (same thing) and see what happens. If it still does this, try an external sound card.
Funny stuff goes in this area right?

I suggest going to neowin.net forums... I know, I might be hated on for this, but neowin has a much better tech community for things like this than FFR...

        1. Downgrade to XP 64bit, or x87 bit depending on your taste.
        2. Buy a 20 - 400 dollar sound card.

Alright, let me specify: If what you're suggesting costs money or involves me changing my OS, I'm not interested.

            Re: computer help

I think some motherboards just have problems with sound devices. I've had this laptop for over two years now and I'm I've noticed it randomly does a few things involving audio devices. If I have headphones on they sometimes stop getting any output so I have to unplug them (where the speakers work) move the volume up or down and back then plug my ear-buds back in to get them working. Also sometimes the computer doesn't detect a microphone when it's plugged in.

I would say buy a sound card, I know absolutely nothing about them as I don't have one but if it works anything like a video card it should work out as you won't be using your motherboard for sound anymore.

Find a friend that has a soundcard, ask if you can test it on your build. My integrated sound was staticy and fickle, then a friend gave me a spare soundcard and voila everything is super now.

So first step is borrow a soundcard and see if it helps, if it does you can buy one for super cheap.

You're missing drivers. Go get some.
