I have some friends with whom it's easiest to keep contact with on MySpace, and so that's what I use. I think Apps are stupid, and I think CSS for the masses is a mistake. Social networking sites have potential, but I think it'll be another 5 years before we're really "there".

My biggest gripe with social networking sites is that it's now even easier to build a global propaganda machine which everybody buys into. No need to localize half-truths anymore. You've got the largest collection of ignorant people who just don't care enough to find out what's going on around them. They're already started pushing certain agendas. Like the huge troop concert, where they were very, very strongly pushing "support the troops" no matter what the government does, which is an easy way for the administration to do what it pleases and then not have to take any responsibility for it. Shame, shame.

PS - I have a friend in Iraq, and I don't want to hear how unpatriotic I am by disagreeing with needlessly sending troops for an ongoing invasion in another country and then supporting them while blasting their cause.

Myspace is a place where people get famous for clicking "add me" millions of times. Facebook has only one reason, to get people laid. Or maybe thats eHarmony...?
