Firewall and technical stuff for computers (Help basically)

Ok, so, recently I found out that someone keylogged my computer. They are probably reading what I'm typing now, but whatever. So basically, I need to upgrade my firewall or something. Is there a way to make my firewall stronger. I bolded that because I mean like really strong, is there somerhing possibly free, that I can do to upgrade it? I found out that it's not that I downloaded a keylogger, but they traced it through my IP and got through my firewall. I ask for proof, and they told me my password to something.

Uhh, if you want to get the keylogger off your computer, download a program to remove it. There's lots of ways to get a keylogger on your computer, and it doesn't requore bypassing a firewall.

But the way I said is how he got to my computer. He just bypassed my firewall, I'm not gonna worry about downloading a keylogger (I'm not a retard). I just wanna know how to enhance(?) the power of my firewall.

Firewalls have nothing to do with this situation. Pretty much do what OrganisM said. Also to make a firewall stronger you just close all ports but 8080 on your router, but then other applications may not be able to access the internet. Also you probably got this key logger by downloading something stupid or going onto a website with malicious script.

            QFT

About removing the keylogger, you would need to know what type it is. I would just back up all your data. Then reload the factory settings. Start over from fresh windows and don't install stuff that isn't needed.

I'm sure most spyware-removers would take care of it. A common one I happen to like is Ad-Aware.

That would be the common sense thing to do, yes.

Most Anti Virus software is well equipped to find and remove not just viruses, but most other malicious ware as well.

I personally hate anti-virus programs, and I think it's the biggest rip-off ever. They charge you subscription fees to keep you "protected" (most AV programs) against 70,000+ viruses, about 50 of which are actually in wide circulation. Most of those 70k are created by the company as "definitions", rather than actual real-world viruses. And even the ones that don't charge you this subscription fee to keep you updated have the nasty habit of slowing down one's computer and interrupting a lot of processes. Basically, it's a virus. It inserts itself in places in the registry you don't ask it to, it slows down system performance, and it often times interferes with your tasks. The only difference is you're sponsoring it.

Better to get a free anti-spyware program like Ad-Aware and scan your computer manually. It'll remove the keylogger, I'll bet.

And if you don't know how to google Ad-Aware, you should throw away your computer right now and never touch one again.

PS- at work I keep all my protection at the network level. nyah!

Also i would advise you run this program:

Adaware is the Internet’s security and privacy leader. We offer simple, worry-free solutions that enhance your online experience, Keep connected.

I believe this will remove a keylogger, and if it doesnt it will speed your PC up by getting rid of loads of crap.

Read my previous post. I already recommended Ad-Aware. Please the read thread before posting, seven posts down would have done it.
