It's more of a collection of brain cells than a brain itself.

It's not much smarter than an insect.

Also: they've developed methods of feeding visual stimuli directly into human brains, I wonder if they could manage the same on this cobbled nerve system.

Just because a robot is almost as smart as an ant doesn't mean it will run around and behave like one.

In fact, there are already machines that can do that and much more, cars.
