It would float off and bump into Alaska. Alaska and California would then merge together and become Califlaska.

I beg to differ. You cant just assume that california would go northwest and just bump into alaska. The magnitude and the epicenter of the location of the earthquake would have to be considered to determine which direction california would go after the quake.

It would be cool though if it went to australia and then it would be caustralia.

My biggest quake was in Washington State in 2001. It was a 6.8. The ground moved almost completely vertically, which was VERY noisy compared to the horizontal ones, somehow.

And coincidentally, I was in LA area all of last week. I left for home like 2 days ago...so...JUST missed it.

We don't get earthquakes in southern Ontario. When I was in Japan I was hoping there'd be an earthquake... probably the one chance for me to experience one. But there was no earthquake. Or at least no detectable one. My boyfriend said he felt the floor shaking at one point and blamed it on bad architecture, but looking back on it, said he thought maybe it was a small earthquake.
