tl;dr version below for non-readers
(I really have nothing better to do right now, so I thought I'd tell this story)
I was at Six Flags St. Louis on June 20th, the opening day of the new wooden coaster called the "Evil Kneivel" (yeah, I'm way off on posting this). My neighbor Taylor and I went there an hour before the park opened to ride it. So from 9 AM to 10, we were standing around at the front entrance. People were let in to Six Flags, but the rest of the park opened at 10:30.
Everybody ran to the blocking ropes, waited another 30 minutes for those to drop, etc.
Then we went to the blocking ropes in front of the Evil Kneivel, where the workers were gonna make us watch the "ribbon" get cut (just a bunch of red, white, 'n blue streamers twisted together). It probably took them at least 45minutes to get prepared for the motorcycle entrance.. Point is we were (and have been) standing for a long time. I started to feel tired, which was kinda off because I got a lot of sleep the night before, and ate some cereal before I left, so I wouldn't normally be tired. Then, randomly, I started blacking out.
At first it just felt kinda like I stood up too fast after laying down, and you can't see anything for a second, but it stayed and got worse. I got really dizzy, nauseous, and very blind. I told Taylor what was going on while using her shoulder for balance. She was freaking out and fanning me (which didn't help) and such, but I just decided to kneel down over the rope. At this point my hearing was messed up, so every sound was just one chunk (motorcycle roaring, cheering, etc.) One of the officers didn't agree with me being on the rope, so he told me to back up, but he realized something was wrong. The officer escorted me to a bench and gave me water.
I was infuriated after I felt better for two reasons:
1-As soon as I was escored away, the ropes were dropped and people started lining up for the Evil Kneivel.
2-The officer wouldn't let me get back in line with Taylor.
But that anger went away when some lady bought me some food
.
Later on, I figured I was locking my knees which stopped blood flow to the brain, etc. It's kinda funny to watch people pass out on AFV, but when it's happening to you it's kinda scary.
Also Taylor told me I was really pale. She said she couldn't even see the sun burn on my nose. And she said it was scary for her because she didn't know what the hell was going on with me. Appearantly, some people around me were trying to get the officer's attention to do something with me (they just didn't want me to throw up on them).
Does anybody here go to Six Flags STL regularly? Cause that would be weird if someone from this forum was there on the Evil Kneivel's opening day. If you saw a sickly looking kid followed by an officer, that kid was me.
tl;dr version:
I pretty much fainted at Six Flags while waiting for a new coaster to open.
Tell your Six Flags stories.
