Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
We can't add more than 10 or so songs... there is a 10mb limit on the filesize. Had to cut audio to crap on a few levels just to get it to fit under 10mb as is.
FFR, as a whole, is an insanely complex game on the backend. It really isn't feasible to have 2nd style up there, because there is so much interaction with our databases. And Kong won't let our swfs interact with our databases. Basically, it just can't happen.
And it doesn't have hard levels. It isn't supposed to have hard levels. It is meant to have a wide variety of music with a focus on easier levels, because Kong users are not nearly as skilled at FFR as FFR users are. The Wanderer is quite challenging to someone who has never played FFR before, wouldn't you think?
If it became popular, we could release a new widget that only had hard levels. Or only had music from 1 artist. Or 1 genre. Or only japanese songs. Or whatever. But figure no more than 10 or so songs in 1 application.RIPComment

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
I was always more drawn in by the hard files that were in the game, even if I couldint pass them. If you get another chance at it, maybe add a retarded hard file. Just a suggestion though.Hi.Comment

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
I just saw it on the Kongregate page today and thought I'd comment. As much as I love ffr, that application doesnt seem to be doing a good job of promoting the awesomeness of this site :/ . I think its alright, but its getting lots of bad reviews. I think it would be better to pick about 6 songs instead of 10 (open soem space to upgrade the application overall), and upgrade the layout and add a scroll rate change. Amp it up abit, include some of the most popular songs (by vote of course
), and put emphasis on its promotional reasons, because a lot of the people seem to think IT is FFR and that that application is the standalone game.
It would be great if mroe of the songs could be included... but the 10mb limit is abit of a drag :/ . maybe include more of the shorter songs
... because you know alot of the people whoa re going to try it havent played it b4 and probably have little patience with it, so short songs would be best lol. Maybe throw in short promo-only songs exclusive to that widget application.
Sry if my ideas suck lol, I just want to see this site promoted to its full extent ^_^ . Maybe this can lead to an upgrade of band widgets to make them even better as well!

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
it basically would require a big overhaul to the widget application in general. and i'm not sure we're at a point to do that right now. but, yea... it does not seem to be going over that well to the general Kong user who doesn't already know about FFR.
which is weird... because it went over very well with the general MySpace fan on band pages. I guess the draw of having their favorite band's songs as part of a game is the major drawing feature, and the rest doesn't matter. Whereas to Kong, they judge it to the high standards of it being a stand-alone game, when it really isn't. I even clearly state that it isn't. But who actually reads the game description/instructions?RIPComment

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
Well some people know it's not a real stand-alone game, and rate it low because of that :SBest AAA: Diamond Heart (FFR edit)
Best sightread AAA: Ninjitsu (I know, I suck
)

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
I just read through the comments.
Some stuff that's been mentioned:
1. Nobody likes "the pink haired girl" and she keeps smiling when they do bad, and that bugs them.
2. The combo is distracting (but i doubt that'll get fixed)
3. It looks unpolished and boring
4. It's too easy or too hard
5. The song choice is bad. Very.
An easy fix for eye candy would be to change those display pictures for the songs. Not sure what they're called? They look like you just googled "mario" and snagged the first image that popped up. Maybe a new character? Scroll wheel? I know these aren't important to the game itself, but people eat this stuff up.
Regarding the song choice, I think you can do a lot better than old synth files while including dance, hip hop, rock, and what other genres have you. Those songs make my eyes roll ):
Anyway, SCGMD has a lot of songs, a lot of things flying all over the place, announcers, a character, etc. How are we not able to fit in a few things without all of that?
Sorry that I'm not fangirling FFR, but I was just upset that this was a silly misrepresentation of the game.Comment

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
i used mr richards key mapping on kong for all my scores
theres no way i could get anything with the arrow keys haha thats plain cruel torture
edit: maybe theres a quick way to make the situation better ..if there's a 10 song limit on each kong application maybe make a triple release instead of that single widget
upload 2 more widgets but this time with attractive songs like some files from dance 1
"X" is good music! http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/....php?level=611
"F" http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/....php?level=534
"{Losing Touch}" http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/....php?level=295
you cant lose with cornandbeans files
(how the hell could one avoid all of the hundreds wonderful files we have in game and somehow pick mario, trip, driveway, freakout,
its pure lulz)
more kong ffr app releases with quality fun attractive files
several kong apps will make people check them all and have a better viewLast edited by heyitsmee; 06-23-2008, 06:40 AM.Comment

Re: FFR Kongregate Application!
would be better to address a few of the other issues beyond a few files, if we're going to add another app or two.RIPComment
