They can be some of the coolest people in your life. Or, they can stare you down, argue with you, underestimate you, scream at you, prejudice you, and make your life a living hell for 55-110 minutes.
I remember a teacher who was like that. (No names). She was always nitpicking at my work (I was in 5th grade at the time) and calling me out on the stupidest things. She once humiliated me outright by telling me to stop picking my nose in class, when I was just scratching at my face. After class, she gave me a talk on "hygiene".
Then at the End-of-the-Year dance, there was this stupid part I kept babelfishing, and she sighed and moaned and bitched and did more or less everything a mean teacher would do. Eventually when I did get it, she lightened up on me a little, and eventually treated me decently.
My middle school history teacher was more or less the polar opposite of her. She understood me really well and treated us with respect. To teach us the concept of "survival of the fittest", she created a cute little animal named Stumpy, who eventually became our class mascot. To this day, it still is. I still stop by and say hi sometimes to her. A good chunk of her students still do.
This year, I had the blessing of getting pretty cool teachers. The year's ending soon, and it's been pretty damn awesome.
So, that was my two cents. Talk about the professors and teachers that make--or break school for you.
