Why is there the rule that children under 13 can't make profiles? Just curious.

つまんないシグでスマソ(´・ω・`)
My dad (fairly traditional Italian father) was very strict until I was 18. I always had to tell them where I was going, when I'd be back, call if any of that changed, reasonably fixed bedtimes (Not like "be in bed by X" but "We'll get pissed off and yell at you if you're up super late")
Sounds like my parents. Only I feel like that's more "free" than "strict." Not the best words, but I can't think of any better, and you get the idea. Basically, whenever I go anywhere (if I do; I don't drive by myself anywhere and yet I've been able to for several months), I have to call and say where, what time I'll be back, etc. Though my parents don't really care about my bedtime so long as I keep up my grades...and since school has always been super-easy for me, that isn't an issue.
My parents are protective of me, but they aren't like "OMFG WERE R U U WER 1 MIN LAYT 4 CURFYU". They just want me to check in with them before I do anything and whatnot, and want me to be safe. Hell, the only time I really ever got them concerned was when I was going to FFRcon, only because I had never been on a plane before. Millions of miles ahead of the past, for sure, when the people I was around didn't care. =\
I don't think any of you guys really know what over protective parents are, until you've been raised by mormons.
Ooops! This one is true. There's protective, there's religiously protective, then there's religiously mormon protective. None of the above are any fun.

Because the website is in compliance with COPPA, the Childhood Online Protection and Privacy Act, which makes it illegal for any website to gather or allow to be displayed any personally identifying information about anyone under 13 (This includes birthday, city or country of origin, e-mail etc etc)
Websites are faced with two possible courses:
1/ Individually demand age verification and parental permission from every single user.
2/ Simply bar those under 13 from participating in the community.
For me, it's all about earning my parent's trust.
My mother usually lets me do whatever I want, as long as my grades are kept up and all that regular stuff. I can't drive yet but I don't see a problem in going to most places alone.
But compared to my relatives in China... wow. They really are not allowed to do anything, and frown upon my mother's treatment of me. The problem is that they still think we're like 3 and can't do anything by ourselves, which is not the case.

Taking "all" oddjobs! PM me requests. Requests filled: 2last active Mar. 6th, 2017
Keep it real pls. Will deny requests I cannot manage.
So basically your parents give you more than what you could ever want and you choose to rebel against the few requirements they give you?
My old roommate was like that. She went to college to find a husband because that's the only way she'll be able to sustain herself once her parents stop paying for her, if they ever do.
There are actually a lot of requirements I'm basically stuck in this house since I can't go anywhere without them. Like I said before, I'm not allowed to stay over at a friend's house. It's rare that they ever buy clothes and stuff that I like.
Sure I get mp3, computer, ps2 and stuff...but if I ever ask for them myself they would complain; so I just wait until they see other kids playing them(or see them on tv w/e) then they will probably get them for me.
I feel like they are just planning everything out for me and there is nothing left for me to do. I want to make some decisions by myself. I don't want to end up like your roommate, dependent on her parents all the time ): and if not...find a husband.
