I can't watch the video now because I'm in class, but to put it simply I'm a huge Obama fan because of his forward thinking, his charisma and leadership abilities, and the fact that I agree with a lot of his policies. He inspires a great deal of change, and would best represent America to the international community. I'm not to say I hate McCain though. I respect McCain, and can't wait to see him as a worthy candidate in the general election against Obama.

PS calling people idiots is a big no-no. Try and respect people's opinions and beliefs without resorting to name-calling.

I wouldn't need to use the word "Idiot" if you didn't refer to him as some kind of damn angel. Obama is just a talker, I don't see how a few lies makes him #1 on everyone's list. I think the sad part about it is that #1 all the blacks are voting for him and #2 all the people who don't want a female president are voting for him. Now i said that he's a talker, I'm not saying that Clinton is not, but just listen to what he says compared to her, It's quite funny.

The more candidates there are to choose from, historically the more likely Americans are to vote for someone because of an arbitrary detail that has no bearing on their platform.

That said, I think it is pretty assumptive of American ignorance and apathy (and whether that's justified, is another topic) to just -state- that these people will ONLY be voted for "because he's black" or "because she's a woman"

Sure it influenced some opening opinions. There's a lot of "It's about time we had a non 'white male' President" floating around, but you really ought to at least consider that this is just one factor among many that is determining who people are going to vote for. I mean, people actually -do- care about -actual- issues, and so the candidate's stances on these various issues -are- going to impact the voter decisions.

Anyways, on topc, personally, I'd vote for Obama. This is probably because I'm influenced by my father who also supports him because he trusts him. I'm not really into politics, but I know that my mom, on the other hand, would vote for Hilary just because she's a woman. This is what I really hate. Feminists who'd vote for her without any knowledge on what's really going on. I criticize her for that, and asked her about what her reason was. She just responded with, "She's a woman, so I KNOW she'll make a difference." I , on the hand, don't have that much knowledge into this thing since I'm Canadian, so I decide to somewhat ignore it and hope for the best since I can't make a difference from here. I just hope that whoever wins would end the conflicts over at Iraq.

But isn't politics, and especially Presidential elections, all about who can **** out the best propaganda against their opponents anyways?

The reason why this happens is because of how long and drawn out the primaries are - if we could have a national primary and settle this **** in one day, there wouldn't be any of this mud-slinging garbage.

I can't believe the level of "news reporting" being presented there. The scene at the end was especially fantastic. 5 days after 9/11, a very radical christian minister was railing that America only reaped what it sowed, and that after nuking cities of civilians, and supporting overseas terrorist movements, it was somehow still managing to be shocked and indignant when someone did to them what they'd been arguably doing elsewhere in the world for years, and they call it "A hateful attack on america" and condemn Obama for continuing to respect someone who in my opinion, was 100% absolutely correct in his statements.

Perhaps that last one wasn't bad, but you gotta admit, the other things that minister was saying were pretty off the wall. Regardless of the fact that it has no real bearance on Barack's own ideas, it's bound to scare people off. Just like Barack's middle name being Hussein means nothing, it doesn't help him. Only thing worse would be if his name was Barack Hussein Hitler. It wouldn't matter how great of a candidate he may be, if that was his name, he would NEVER be elected.

That said, I think the best thing in that video is what Barack said about his grandmother. He has a good point. Pretty much everybody is either racist themselves or has a sibling, parent, uncle, cousin, someone that is racist. I know there are people in my family that I hear talk and just have to shake my head. That doesn't make me like them, it just means I've been around them so much of my life that I see past it and try to ignore it.

Also, I don't see why people don't like that little statement from Barack about how he wants to cut tons of military spending. Honestly we might as well just let Germany keep on developing the best weapons, copy their design, and go with that. And there's no reason to continue any development on nuclear weapons, so why would people think Obama is trying to disarm the nation because of that? I dunno, I just don't get people sometimes.

Really though, is there anybody here that would even consider Hillary? I don't see how she's still in the running at all. Then again, it seems like the Democratic race is more about who is more hated than who is more loved, and some people just hate Obama for (as far as I can tell) not very good reasons. =\

Okay, question.

So I heard (from my Republican mother, mind you), that Obama announced his candidacy at a friend's house--a man named William Aires or something. I don't know the spelling, I'm going phonetically from what I was told.

And apparently this Mr. Aires is very anti-American. He supported the terrorists on 9/11, said it was too bad the fourth plane didn't hit the White House, etc.

With this association to anti-Americanism and Rev. Wright, what is up with Obama?

Basically, can anyone tell me what's -really- going on? What is up with this Aires guy or however you spell his name.

Okay, I don't know why, but I lol'd at this. It sounds like a perfect "your mom" joke.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is this: If Aires is so outspokenly anti-American, why would Obama associate with him in the first place? And what were Rev. Wright's sermons like before Obama's candidacy?

I'm not trying to blame Obama here or claim he's anti-American--I'm just seriously puzzled.
