Arthur C. Clarke is dead!

I haven't actually read any of his works, but I'm told by my sci-fi (or is it scifi?) aficionado friends that he's one of the best writers ever in the genre. Now I feel like I should go read his books...has anyone else read them, and are they interesting?

Hey, R.A. is a pretty cool guy. He comes into my store sometimes. He signed a book for me ^^, fun to talk to as well. Yes, his stuff is simple and kinda generic but you have to admit that it's gotten quite the foothold in beginning D&Ders.

Drizzt Do'urden singlehandedly ruined the forgotten realms, Drow, 3rd+ edition D&D, Rangers, and the Scimitar. And Artemis (which is a girl's name anyway) was easily a vastly superior fighter.

Eoin Colfer is awesome. I've started to think of Artemis as more gender-neutral after reading those books.
