    How to construct a katamari?

Today I was talking with a friend of mine, and I bet him he couldn't make a working karamari. We both have ideas on how to create one, his one a little more easy though. Anyway, how would you go about making a katamari?

The way in which I would create one is by having an organic shell forming a sphere. Inside this shell, there will be 8 stablisers going arround it. These stabilisers will by keeping a man made black hole in the center of the sphere. This black hole will be weak and give off a small gravitational field as big as that katamari itself. This ensures that when it rolls over objects they will get sucked in by the orgasnic shell and digested. Once absorbed, the shell will grow, making the stabilisers grow further apart. This will then allow the black hole to grow, making a bigger gravitation field to compensate for the increased size.

( For those of you who have no clue what I'm talking about, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katamari )

Re: How to construct a katamari?

The gravitational pull of a black hole actually increases as it shrinks in size. Density = Mass / Volume, .:. increasing the denominator (volume) results in a decrease in density, the magnitude of which is responsible for a black hole's strength.

        Sorry...thread over.

But if you quantify the physical extent of the black hole by considering the radius of its event horizon then the black hole does get larger as its mass increases. fizyx iz phun

Regardless, I think you should have God make you one instead of using a black hole...

Not necessarily. Miniature black holes can theoretically be created within the LHC. Supposedly they would wink out of our dimensions nearly immediately, but there is a chance they can still be created from just 2 particles.

If you consider the very idea of an event horizon on a katamari, then you must also assume that the ****ING THING WOULD BE INVISIBLE.

That said, gravity is too weak of a force to work as a means of a real functioning katamari. As was postulated, a black hole has enough gravity, but in fact, what you'd be creating is simply a black hole, and not a real working katamari. For instance, how would you roll the katamari when you'd be instantly sucked into the black hole? How would you explain the idea that this "katamari" would be invisible due to light being pulled instantly into the hole-core?

Please explain how something can be "miniature" when it's volume is already so minuscule. And if you're saying it would have less mass, then it would not be a black hole at all, but rather a very dense piece of matter with heavy mass, yet none of the "abnormal" effects of a black hole, chiefly characterized by the event horizon. And seriously, the very idea of a black hole is identified as a super massive cosmic body that has such intense gravity that all is pulled into it. If something is created on Earth that doesn't fit that description, its not a black hole. And consider this: if a black hole were to exist on earth, what would stop the hole from taking in the entire planet, the entire solar system, etc.
