Re: Physicals
I agree, though physicals are important to see if you're healthy it's gross and invasive and very hard to go through. I have to say it is horrible when you have a male doctor and you're female (like me *dies*) I know there are laws or something that makes it so that there has to be a female doc or nurse or w/e in the room when a physical goes on for a girl. I still don't trust my doctor and the whole invasiveness is completely true it's horrible because well no one should be going there and we have to do it once a year or w/e it is. I can proudly say I haven't had to go for a physical with my doctor because he's a HUGE creeper...so I've just made appointments with a nurse type person at our hospital so i don't have to deal with that.Originally posted by SynthlightI only exist on the second tuesday of the 5 week each month.

Re: Physicals
you should be able to see a gynecologist if needed... and should be able to select a female one if you wanted. although from what i've been told, being a male gynecologist isn't all of what it's cracked up to be. think about the majority of your patients... overweight middle aged women with 3 kids. do you really want to see their goods? me neither. not to mention, it's just like any other job... when you've been doing it for 20 years, you've seen tens of thousands of vaginas. they're nothing special anymore.
i never had any real issues with the whole physical thing. it's just something that has been accepted.RIPComment

Re: Physicals
Oh, please. I've had a female gynecologist and a male one, and I way prefer my male one. He's aware that the exam is sort of awkward, so he makes conversation and does whatever he can to make his patients feel at ease and his office is set up like a house -- carpet, pictures, changing rooms, photos of all the kids he's delivered. The female doc had a cold, small exam room that just looked like a hospital room and was unfriendly.
As far as being creeped out by being examined by a dude, get over it. Like Tass said, by the time a gynecologist is certified he's seen like ten thousand vaginas, and yours is nothing special.Comment

Re: Physicals
I thought it was completely normal for a pediatrician to stick a finger up there (I'm a guy btw) until I found out I had a sick pedophile for a doctor. Statute of limitations was up for me by then but a lot of families got a piece of that ****head.
Hence my fear of doctors -_-'Back to "Back to Earth"

Re: Physicals
I've never had a physical. I go to the doctor when I have a problem, which has been essentially never for me aside from having to see a derm. I don't really have any problems monitoring my own health...I don't need a doctor to do the same checks I can do myself.
I did have my privates examined once though. I was kind of worried it would be weird based on things I had heard/expected. The doctor was a woman and it ended up being so professional it was almost funny. I lay down with a thing over me so she couldn't see anything. She definitely never looked once and was so gentle to the point of having to ask me to guide her to the right spot at times. She explained everything she was doing analytically. When finished, she left, I changed, she said I was fine and good to go so I left.
Nothing like what I expected it to be.Last edited by Reach; 02-25-2008, 04:34 PM.

Re: Physicals
Oh yeah, a summit meeting of OB/GYNs across the country meet in a remote part of Maine so they can compare vaginas in order to find the chosen one. once the chosen one is found, all the OB/GYNs have a huge orgy to it, thus bringing peace to the world.
Why Maine, you ask? Why not California? Or Arizona? Or Alaska? Why you ask? Cause Maine rocks.

Re: Physicals
I play tennis myself, and you are making it seem like a sports physical and a real physical are the same thing.
Lol...far from it.
Girl's sports physicals are the exact same thing compared to the guys minus the coughing.
You are talking about real physicals which are a completely different story.
Also, when it comes to my experience all of the doctors I've had were female, and were very professional. Like stretchy has said, its not like the doctor is going to go up to the nurse on her lunch break and start talking about your junk.
The worst part of the physical in my experience was the shots.
Right in my serving arm, and off to a 4 hour morning practice.

Re: Physicals
Maybe I'm getting things mixed up; I don't really know because some people I know seem to have been getting the real deal for just sports.
I can sympathize with you here. Serving becomes ridiculous when your muscles are stiff. This time, I was lucky in that the nurse asked which arm I wanted, which allowed me to not incapacitate my main arm in time for varsity tryouts.Last edited by sumzup; 02-26-2008, 02:10 AM.

Re: Physicals
I had a male pediatrician in Florida, but he wasn't a bad guy I think. Just kind of weird. I hardly remember. My pediatrician right now is female, and she's really nice. She didn't do anything more than just check over my body when I went to get a physical... No poking anything INSIDE anywhere, haha. Just outside.Comment
