Re: Heath Ledger is dead.
Nor do I. Once again, I am simply stating (unless by some coincidence someone is related) noone here cares more about Heath Ledger than saying something along the lines of, "Oh Heath Ledger died, that sucks he was a good actor." Then moving on with their life.
While at the same time, I would venture to guess a large majority of the people here hardly know the problems that are happening in places Darfur.
Yes, I know more about what the people in Darfur face because of Anthropology/Cultural Anthropology classes. But I care about as much as to say, "There are a lot of problems in Darfur and that sucks." Then moving on with life. I may have a discussion about it here or there with people. But it in no way affects my life.
You are right death is death. And killing is a shame. My opinion (as this is an opinionated argument now) is that the problems in Darfur are greater. There is no reason to ostracize me for that.
This is a place for discussion.
Someone posted the fact that Heath Ledger is dead.
Now we are discussing it.
If you want to go make a post and discuss the millions starving in Africa or the problems in Darfur; by all mean go do so.
Tons of people always go to "-Insert Celebrity- is dead." with the same "Children are starving and people are dyin." bit as if we REALLLY REALLY care that the actor is dead and we are crying rivers. But we are not... we are just discussing it.
Also...

Re: Heath Ledger is dead.
The only thought that crossed my mind was "at least he finished the movie in time". Actors aren't granted extra caring room in my book.

Re: Heath Ledger is dead.
I generally felt bad when Ledger died, I did. I felt bad when Hunter S Thompson died and when Pat Morita died. You can't tell me it's stupid to say I felt that way. You have no fucking right.
Now I felt bad because I am fans of there work or acting and generally enjoyed watching them, reading them or listening to them. Now they are gone, I can't expect any more work from them. That saddens me. This is how I can grieve, I didn't know him or was good friends so I wasn't deeply effected by it but for the reasons I previously stated, I cared for his well being. That's not selfish, these peoples jobs are to entertain us and when they go they can't anymore. This is how these people can actually effect millions of us. John Lennon's death effected millions. The music he wrote effected peoples lives so when he died, that did too.
Now if you want say "He meant nothing to me" or "I wasn't a big fan" then that's just dandy, what I don't like are the couple of wankers that can't seem to understand why others are effected by things like these. You guys must have favorite actors and artist that you would be sad to see leave us. Don't bother saying otherwise because I won't believe you idiots.Originally posted by TibsI love you, you Welsh ****Comment

Yes good job reading half of that. My statement was directly in response to your quote.
No one DOES care but forums are a place for discussion.
This thread has brought about discussion so therefore its served its purpose.
Why say redundant things like "No one cares." when you are right. NO ONE DOES CARE.
No one really implied they cared, and if they do this thread fits its purpose. Its a new thread, we have tons of them.
Some people do give a damn about the batman movie though and what will happen with it... or, for some reason, have an odd fascination about the latest celebrity gossip and such (no matter how retarded that is).Last edited by Sir_Thomas; 01-23-2008, 01:35 PM.Comment

Re: Heath Ledger is dead.
I might be off topic as hell here by this point, but I keep seeing all of these posts about Africa and how tragedies are much more important in Africa - that is disgusting. There are tragedies going on in your own country of equal magnitude and kids starving and kids that are homeless in your own country - worry about them first.
This isn't to say that people in Africa shouldn't be helped, but for ****'s sake look around yourself before you jump the Atlantic Ocean to help the Africans.
Yeah, sucks that the dude died, but there's no attachment here. He's dead, I never knew him. Big deal.Last edited by foilman8805; 01-23-2008, 01:46 PM.Comment

Re: Heath Ledger is dead.
Let's argue over whether or not someone should be affected by things.
PS Heath Ledger was actually a pretty admirable guy who just happened to also be a hugely talented actor. You people who are dismissing him because of the suggestion that he overdosed are idiots.Comment

Also, it's a possibility that he had pneumonia (hint he had pneumonia) and the sleep aid Ambien can exacerbate this."A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
