    Building a Computer

So, I decided I was going to build a computer.. I ordered the parts from Newegg (where else) and they arrived yesterday. However, I want to take a different approach to cooling then just fans or water cooling.

Here's my plan. I'm constructing the computer inside an aquarium, and submersing the components in mineral oil to cool it. The mineral oil will then be further cooled by pumping out of the aquarium, into a radiator (probably a Zalman Reserator,) and back into it.

I was going to secure the motherboard inside the aquarium with a Lian Li Removable Motherboard Tray, but I can't find it locally and shipping would be expensive. Would it work to secure the motherboard to the side of the case with silicone? I'm pretty sure it's non-conductive, and it would create a cool "floating" effect. I just don't know if the heat will fry my motherboard.

    Thanks.

EDIT: I'm thinking about maybe using epoxy.

You should have watched that episode of X-Play when Morgan made the perfect computer or whatever, she showed all of the best prices, and gave sites as to where you could find the best parts.

The weight of what I say depends on how you feel.

If I understand what your asking, I'm near positive it won't overheat.

The mineral oil will start stinking after a while from what I've read. Everything can potentially shock your motherboard to death although mineral oil will be less likely to destroy it than something else, like say, water. You could try water cooling, but instead of using water, use mineral oil. Unless this is a cheap computer, I wouldn't try immersing your entire system in anything, even if you think it's safe. After all, if you want to a quiet computer, using a water cooling system will do just the trick. Also, all your parts will be icky and nasty to touch and work with if you ever take them out.

Water cooling is really expensive. I'm poor. Also, there are thousands of proofs of concepts floating around the web. Anyways, oil has been used to cool computers for years. Some of the old IBM servers even had a dipstick.

@problems: I'm not really worried about the motherboard overheating, what I'm worried about is if using an adhesive to attach the motherboard will cause it to short. I'm pretty sure if it was non-conductive I wouldn't have a problem, but I want to be sure. And yes, Puget Systems is badass.
