    How to make silly putty

This thread includes instructions on how to make Gak, which is kind of like silly putty, but a little more liquidy

    Items required:
    2 small cups
Borax (quantity will be stated later on)
    20 mL of Elmers glue
35 mL of Water (15 mL in 1 small cup, 20 mL in the other)
    food coloring dye (optional)
    butter knife

    Instructions:
    1. Warm up the cup with 15 mL of water in it, DO NOT BOIL, just warm.
    2. Take about a tsp. of Borax and add it to the 15 mL cup and stir until the Borax is completely disolved into the water. If you don't see little specs still floating in the water, add a pinch more of the Borax until you do see little specs.
    3. Add 20 mL of Elmers glue to the cup with 20 mL of water in it.
3a. Add your optional food coloring, 3 drops maximum. Otherwise, it will stain your hands and clothes.
    4. Stir this until the little specs of white are gone.
    5. Here's the fun part. Add the 15mL water/Borax solution to the glue/water and stir with your butter knife. You will see a very quick reaction. The now liquidy substance will turn more solid and goopy.
    6. Mold the goop in your hands until the stringiness and most of the water is gone.
    7. You should now have some Gak to play with. This will dry out, so if you want to preserve it, keep it in a small sandwich bag.

    Enjoy!
