Something is wrong with my computer. Somone please help

I have cox cable broadband internet, and it is really fast. But there is one little problem. Last week or 2 weeks ago my internet speed has turned into complete ****. My download speed is only reaching about 17 kbs, and thats fast for how slow my internet has been. I ran a virus scan and there were no viruses. I deleted a bunch of stuff thinking that might be a problem but it didn't help. I really need to find out why it is being so slow.

EDIT!!!!: Yay. My internet is fast again =D. I don't know why or how it got fast again, but I am glad. I was on youtube and clicked on a video and it loaded at a lightning fast speed. I am so glad. I can download things at a fast speed now =3.

I'm doubting the accuracy of your virus scan. That most definitely seems like a virus. If it were just your internet speed that faltered, perhaps there was a physical problem with either cabling or other hardware, but if your entire computer is slow, it is either a virus or spyware.

I'm going to look for a few other comprehensive scanning programs.

This is a program that shows you every program that is using the Internet at all times. It's not really useful unless you know what you're doing. You could tell me what the output is, but I think I already know.

If your anti-virus shows up on this list (I'm just going to go ahead and bet that it's Norton), that could be your problem. Every anti-virus I've ever used has interfered with my Internet connection after a long period of use. That is why I no longer use an anti-virus.

Trend Micro is not an exception. Check to make sure it's not interfering with your connection.

It's Cox. They have extremely poor customer service too.
"Hello my internet isn't working properly."
"Ok sir please hold. *1 minute later* Does it work now?"

I said my internet is fine now >_>, the new problem is my firefox and stepmania are huge system resource hogs, I have to use opera now v_v.

That's normal.

Just don't open 300 tabs in Firefox and close it every so often to refresh the memory.

Also, get more RAM.

I have to agree 100%. The absolute BEST AntiVirus around is Panda Titanium. But, it takes so many resources that it can take up to 3 times as long to start windows. As well your internet looses about 40 - 70 kB/s

I bought more ram and I'm going to install it next week =D. Also, I'm starting to like opera more then firefox ;_;. Stepmania works fine now.
