    American Accent.

What kind of American Accent do you have? I know not everyone is American here, but I thought this was fun.

The weight of what I say depends on how you feel.

            Re: American Accent.

I thought I had a normal Canadian accent, but apparently not. I visited in the states, and they told me my accent (and other British Columbians) was as close to the British accent you can get, other than New Zealanders. The Australians exaggerate the accent too much to sound British. I myself don't entirely believe my accent is that close to being British, but I guess it's because people can't really notice their own accent.

A side thought: After a certain age, people's accents get more "fixed", so to speak. I think it would be cool to move somewhere else around then, get an accent, and move back after a year or two and have that accent for the rest of my life. Accents are cool.

P.S. According to the quiz, I have a Canadian accent. It actually got it right. I also had a British friend take the quiz and he got Western.

What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)

              My Results:

              Northern

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

which makes sense because I live in Connecticut.

I'm neutral. Some of my friends say I have somewhat of an "asian" accent. The funny thing is i'm not even asian.

                    My result was: Western!

makes sense, i lived somewhere in the west for 2.5 + 5.5 + 1 + 2 out of 17 years. i first lived in the south, though.

My accent was stated to be neutral. The things is that I live in New England. Maybe it's because I grew up in a bilingual household. The accent I have in Spanish doesn't exist when I'm talking in English.

Ever since I moved New England when I was 7 I've tried not to acquire the accent. They don't like the letter "R" here.

Yeah, uhh...I took that quiz and it said I have a 'North Central' accent and that I may have been asked if I was Canadian before.

I was born and raised in Southern California. I don't think this is the case.

This could either mean an r-less NYC or Providence accent or one from Jersey which doesn't sound the same. Just because you got this result doesn't mean you don't pronounce R's.(People in Jersey don't call their state "Joisey" in real life)

It got me right on the nose. Born and raised in NY.

You're not Northern, Southern, or Western, you're just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don't really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.
