    Computer troubles

I made a dumbass mistake installing camera software, (plugging camera in before software is installed) and now drivers won't install automatically, making file transfer impossible.

I need to make Windows forget the camera ever existed. Or some other solution. Powershot A510 if it matters.

Does windows recognize the device? If so go Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device manager > Universal serial bus adapters > Drivers uninstall driver or roll back the driver

      Cheers!

Haha, yeah do what you want haha.. im FARR from a computer expert :P.. if you couldn't tell .. but hey didn't he say that he can't install the drivers.. so how would he uninstall them?

OMS! Wait.. Plasmix - is it a flip open camera?, like does it have a buncha stuff on it, like a camera/video camera/mp3 player/voice recorder/ and like 3 other things? .. I may be wrong yet again, but if it's that one I have the same one and the drivers won't install properly either..

THis is the cannon site, select your Operating System. THen it will list all available software updates. I doubt there will be any but its worth a shot. Also you can go to device manager and remove it as stated previously, then rescan for hardware changes. Then windows will auto recognise it. If it doesnt, try a diff USB port. If still test on another machine. If it doesnt work on another machine, try a diff USB cable, then if still persists. Return cam for a new one Hope this helps.

This doesn't beat the fact that my brother rebooted this computer with the wrong recovery disk. =\

                Re: Computer troubles

A little searching told me that Windows lacks the WIA driver necessary to correctly detect digital cameras. The problem is, no such WIA driver seems to exist for my model for XP.

Installed successfully on a different computer with XP but copied drivers don't seem to work.
