How long do video game systems usually last?

Trying to figure out how long the Wii is gonna be on the market, see if it's worth getting.
How long did it take SNES, N64, Gamecube, etc, to be discontinued?
They say there's a sun in the sky...

Isn't Wii Nintendo's (potential) last gaming system?

N64 sucked and SNES was around for a long time, from memory I'm thinking 1990 to at least 96 or so? I don't remember when N64 came out and I'm too lazy to use wikipedia.

      Hey, the N64 didn't suck ;o

The SNES was producing for almost exactly 6 years. The N64 went on to last over 5. Gamecube had (still has? I don't know XD) games coming out in 2007, so 6 years...

You can probably expect the Wii to last awhile.

Did to, had like 4 good games. The thing I loved most about Nintendo was FF, then FF left (I know, for good reason but still). Btw, I'm using old logic from when I was 14, I'm still hurt.

Super smash brother brawl is going to be on the Wii.

Do you need any other reason to buy it?

                N64 did Not suck!
I still have mine from many, many years ago, and it still works.
                SSB Original FTW!
But yea the Wii will be on the market for a while. Don't count on it being "discontinued" any time soon.

I think the Wii could be on the market for sometime. I still play my NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube still, and I still find games at my local game stop for each console (Just a giant box full of old games and storage of them in back) The Wii can be and is a great system, with a new function of gameplay, that people will keep buying games for like every other Nintendo system. Just like how the Gameboy lasted long, and the DS is doing fine too.

The Wii was released 2006.11.19 (forgive me if I'm off by a few days), so hype about Nintendo's eighth-generation system will probably start up around 2010, and it will probably released about a year or two after that.

hey my little bro has an atari that still works and my sister has a nes, snes, and a sega genesis so a game system lasts as long as you take care of it
also some of the greatest and most rememberd are for older systems
