Someone just lock this topic before I tear my eyes out. It was a mistake asking ANYONE on this forum for advice on anything, much less coming up with a new word.
Just lock it.

Yeah....but it was partly your fault for baiting the useless conversations in your second post. AND you used the word "ignoramuses"...which is practically ASKING people to trash the thread.

Well same with a bunch of stuff...take 'Friend' for instance. Here in the US of A, some dude we met once and we thought was okay we can say 'sure, he's my friend, I guess' but take Germany for instance- their language has a seperate way to greet people who are friends and who are strangers, and 'friend' is reserved for the people you've known for forever, your lifelong friends and family. That's it.
Also, I hate how overused the word gay is. There's nothing wrong with gay people, and using the word as an insult further promotes discrimination against them. And we all know how I hate racism...Comment

that said, language evolves, deal with it. Hate is easier to say than dislike or whatever word you'd have us use in its place. As long as you understand the meaning a person is trying to convey, then the language has done its job, has it not?Reach: there was this bee. i hate bee\'s...i tryed to kill it, but then it didn\'t die and it started making weird noises so i was like oh (#$% hes gonna sting me. i started running but i triped over some rock and rolled down a hill into the river.Comment

Exactly, so coming up with a word to replace it seem suitable. And the same assholes post random shit in the Crit Thinking forum, too. So, this was a good a place as any, seeing as it gets more views.

whats the point of a thread like this...people say hate unconciously all the time...is it overused, i guess, but i wouldnt have even thought about it until you brought it up...my point is this, it isnt a big deal, and not an issue anyone really needs to debateOriginally posted by VxDxStick it in her butt and pee.Comment

I believe, instead of coming up with a new word, maybe just use a specific adjective in front of "hate" for real, genuine hate. Of course, then it wouldn't be too long before that is used casually.Originally posted by Henri PoincaréThe scientist does not study nature because it is useful to do so. We weren't debating it! Good God, does no one pay attention? We were coming up with a new word for what "hate" used to mean, because hate has degraded into a commonplace term! No one was debating about anything.

Settle down, please.
Well, you'll have to accept other opinions otherwise you won't get anywhere.
But fine, I suppose I apoligize, I guess, in a way.
So what is your new word?
Or are you just getting other people to come up with it?Originally posted by Henri PoincaréThe scientist does not study nature because it is useful to do so. He studies it because he takes pleasure in it, and he takes pleasure in it because it is beautiful.Comment
