    Noobish LaTeX Question

For those who don't know, LaTeX is a word formatting program downloadable for free. It's more HTML than MSWord in the sense that you format your document with tags. Google it.

Anyway, I'm somewhat of a latex noob, and I am having trouble saving my document in PDF format so that I can actually view the end product. By that I mean I don't have any clue how to do it.

Any seasoned users who can help me out?

Yes, some people are allergic to latex. The contraceptive can make your reproductive organs swell up because of an allergic reaction. It's not pretty.

I am not that stupid. When I try to open it in Acrobat it gives an error message saying: "Acrobat could not open 'filename.tex' because it is either not a supported file type or the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an emial attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I also tried saving it as filename.pdf, but it wouldn't take that either.

Wait, what? I just want to view the file, not print it.

You have to save it as a .pdf... you cant just load a .tex file with adobe reader. [Renaming blah.tex to blah.pdf definitely wont work]
I do not actually have it on this computer now, but yeah, it depends on what programs you are using... eg MikTeX or wahtever.
At least, when I was using it, there was a way to save, or convert, or whatever the terminology is, to either a .pdf or a postscript file (.ps).

Well, ya, the site I heard about it from said "press the corresponding button" to convert the file from .tex to .pdf. Location of said button deemed a mystery. And I do use MikTex.

You have to compile it using whatever program it is you're using to write it.

Lamb skin doesn't protect against pregnancy/STDs. It's too porous for that.
