    XP Themes

I recently got a crazy Firefox theme but my Window's theme looks really bad with it. I tried downloading some but they require you to buy $20 software and I found some free ones...They were just gifs for desktops and I got spywere which I taken care of but now I get it trying to install every time I open a application. I need any theme that will give me a black start menu bar and title bar.

    Here's what it looks like:

So anybody got any good themes?

      Re: XP Themes

Windowblinds gives you alerts every damned day until you pay for it.

I used to use it and eventually paid for it, only to realize it's a completely stupid idea because of how badly it lowers performance. I'm not going to waste computer performance on cosmetic flair.

If I stock my new computer with better components, I'll consider it, and even then I'd probably turn it off for almost any of my applications.

The only thing more pointless than Windowblinds-type software is antivirus programs. They eat up a huge amount of resources, give you a ton of annoying alerts, and end up not fixing a huge amount of problems. The only time I had dangerous spyware on my computer, Norton wouldn't fix it or remove anything since it was an active process on the computer tied into my login function, but kept screaming bloody murder every thirty seconds. I had to use my own utilities and take it out myself.

        Just get a patched uxtheme.dll

        Google for it.

Then just Google for Windows XP themes.

Ignore the browser, but look at my taskbar and such, i think that is what you are looking for, i got it from windowblinds, which BTW is free for 60 days and you can probably just keep redownloading it.

Also, windowblinds does not slow my computer down at all, and it never asks me to pay, ever. Its like it isn't even there, I don't know what kind of screwy windowblinds OrganisM got.

There's only one Windowblinds program, and I downloaded it from Stardock, the people who make it.

It does take up memory, and depending upon use it will indeed slow down your computer.

I did what Pyroshock said and I want this theme but it won't work. I go into properties (desktop), Themes tab, Browse, then the file that looks like a paintbrush painting on some paper...I just get the normal XP theme...help?

What that is is a visual style, not a theme.

Honestly I can't remember how to apply a visual style in XP, haha. I think you might just double click the visual style file or something.

Edit: What you have to do is move the visual style file and the "Shell" folder to C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes. Then you just double-click the visual style theme.

                        Right there's your problem.

Anyway, the total vista conversion theme is quite good. I had it on my composing PC for a while.
