    wirelsss networking?

I just got a Wii last Friday and I do not have a wireless router (my parents didn't buy one when I told them too, instead they bought an expensive piece of ****) and I have no money to buy a wifi USB connector. Does anyone know any different ways to create a wireless network from your computer other than clicking the "set up a wireless network for your home or office".

    thanks in advance

I'm confused...do you have a wireless router that you can't get to work or you don't have one?

If you have a wireless router and you can get it to recognize that there is a wireless router you may have to turn your routers security off and if the Wii asks your for a port number you have to open a port from the router being TCP and UPC.

No I don't have a wireless router, even though I specifically told my parents to buy one.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a wireless network (from my computer) for my Wii to find and connect to.

I don't think it's possible unless you have some pretty tricked out WLAN card.

...if you don't have a network, you don't have a network. Simple as that.

You can get a wireless router for as cheap as $40.

I got my wireless wii router for 23,99$ CAN without taxes, you can probably get on for the same USA price since CAN and USA are worth mostly the same thing now.

Wait, what did your parents buy instead of a router?

an alpha shild (it slows down my internet connection to ~30% of what it should be whereas I could, for $20CDN more, have the best router you can buy (and it's wireless) =(
also, I can buy a wifi adapter for my computer but iut's 35 bucks that I don't have right now.

                  I'm assuming that's a wired router.

You need a wireless router to have a wireless network. You can't just have a wireless network out of nowhere.

What you probably want is a Linksys WRT54G. It's 802.11b/g and really easy to set up. It's $40 American I think.

                    Re: wirelsss networking?

You can't get the best wireless router around for $20, sorry.

PS: Metroid Prime blows. Played it at the Cube Clubs before it even came out, and then bought the first and second games on their releases. The old Metroid side-scrolling games are so much more better and are actually innovative for their time. There is nothing that Metroid Prime does that hasn't been done, and it doesn't do what it does particularly well. Plus it lacks online support, and the game hardly varies from one iteration to the next.

I think he meant for 20 dollars more than that Alpha Shield.

PS: You obviously haven't played Metroid Prime 3.
