Kazaa sucks. Kazaa Lite sucks slightly less.
Get Soulseek if you want a file sharing client that's actually good.
Oh, and if you want a great free virus remover, try AVG. www.grisoft.comComment

Bus SPeed is the other determining factor. Dunno how to check it, though.Originally posted by 87xwell i did the search on ad-aware.. found 689 things.. sifted through the list.. didnt delete new.net ( thanks for the heads up BEAN) quartined about 550+ things... hopefully that will make some sort of a difference..
to the computer people out there... what are some of the main things that could bog my computer down??...
i got a
1.3 ghz processor
512 megs of ram
80 gig hard drive
what other factors make for a fast computer..
EDIT:
where can i get kazaa lite... everwhere says its shut down
It's how fast information is sent two and from the processor, or something like that. I forget exactly.SIG PICTURES:

E-mule is another pretty good file sharing program.
The current Adaware is 6.0, so that might narrow your search.
I make your computer perform better, you might want to check what kind of processes you have going on start up. Some people have tons of things start up with the computer when you can just as easily start them when needed. Another way to cut back on erroneous processes is to edit your "services" in "administrative tools." This gets very technical and very advanced, so you don't want to touch things that you aren't sure about.Comment

dudes.. dont even worry about the P2P file sharing things right now.. the reason i need to make me comp run faster is my step dad and brother want to reformat the hard drive... VERY VERY BAD... i have things on here that wont fit on cd's that i dont want to redownload... and i have over 25 gigs of shit in my personal folder.. they think reformatting the computer will get rid of all unwanted things and the comp will be back to normal, just as fast as it was when we first got it.. although this is true.. i dont want to make 30+ backup discs of just my own shit.. so i need methods of makeing the comp run like its supposed to so we dont have to go through all the other stuff.....
and no.. overclocking my processor isn't an option..

OVERCLOCK
dont worry
fires are for pussies
if you believe in the heart of the overclock no fire will start
I overclocked an athalon...
It kicks assohaitharComment

no.. overclock = bad.. and plus... my brother and step dad wouldn't keep it cooled off enough and that would fuck up the whole comp beyond repair...

http://security.kolla.de/ Spybot DL.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html Spyware blaster, dl too
ok download both of those. Spybot works slightly better than ad-aware, and
spyware blaster makes it so more Spyware wont go on.

Best things you can do to make your comp faster is to delete some stuff from your hard drive, overclocking works depending on how your comp handles it (it works much better on Athlon then Pentium, though), but basically I'd say get a new processor. You can't really upgrade your RAM, a 1.3 won't be able to handle much more than 512 effectively. I'd say go buy yourself a new processor...you can get an AMD Athlon 2400+ for...round $100, I think. If you're willing to put a bit more money into it, I'd say bump it up to a 2800 or 3000. BTW, what kind of computer are you running? Because if it's something like HP, you'll have to buy a new motherboard and it just isnt' worth it...I just happen to like AMD more than Pentium because it's better for multitasking and a LOT cheaper.Comment

AHHHHH, SO WRONG.
1. deleting stuff from your hard drive will not speed up your computer. Defragmenting will, but minimally.
2. Pentium overclocking can often be better than Athalon. Similar to the way an XP 2500+ has been known to get stable 200x11 clock speed (3200+) a Pentium 4 2.4c has been known to get 2.8 ghz stable.
Furthermore, overclocking is not a solution to speeding programs up noticibly.
3. Amount of ram is not dependant on processor speed or type.
4. No matter where he got his computer he'd have to upgrade his motherboard if he wants to put a Athalon chip in.
5. DO NOT GET A 2400+. Get a 2500+ instead, cheaper, faster, 512kb L2 cache, 33mhz FSB not 266, rock solid 3200+ speed overclocking (I am and have been running this for a while)Comment
