EDIT: I don't get this part though

if you want to get music off your ipod (or anyone's ipod) here is how.

1. open explorer.
2. tools > folder options > find view hidden files and view system files. turn both on.
3. connect your ipod by usb.
4. navigate with explorer to your ipod
5. dig around, there should be a folder called "ipod music" or something close in there. it's hidden but with hidden files on you should see it.
6. copy n paste.

note - when you open the ipod music folder all the tracks will be named with random numbers and letters, but the artist, album, track number and other information will still be there. just view in detailed view to see. sorry if this doesn't answer your question at all, but i never actually read your post so this is the best i can do.

Right click, "Explore" in Windows.

if you have mac there's probably a similar method
