Re: I hate installs
You can install Windows on a mac with Intel using bootcamp for free. I just don't want to run windows natively, since I rarely need to use it.Comment

Re: I hate installs
Yeah. VMware makes windows run slower than it would if installed on a PC, but that's because it's running two operating systems at once. VMware is still beta, too...but I imagine it won't be too long until windows programs will be able to run natively on mac....I mean, Apple has to be working on that...then, if they could get OSX to run on PCs, man, it'd kill Microsoft.Comment

Re: I hate installs
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but status bars screwing up is the fault of Microsoft for Microsoft software only. All programmers now that you need to program the state of the status bar yourself, and if the software designer has done a bad job of indicating to the status bar what proportion of the installation is complete, then they are the ones to blame for giving you false hope or a Skippy status bar.
Software is fully capable of doing something like storing a registry key indicating how long it took to run a task last time and integrate that into its next estimation, so the ability to be more accurate is there, they just don't bother.
Microsoft is responsible for a lot of crappy stuff, but not that in particular.Comment
