    ITT We ask computer questions.

    ~Please move this if needed.~

So, ask your computer questions here, and you might get an answer.

    I have one myself:
Recently my sound has been failing. It will work, then it will just stop working. Anything that uses sound (including FFR) won't work. What is going on? I'm using SB Audigy Audio 1800 with a VAIO computer, and i have Windows XP.

Google up the latest updated drivers for your particular sound card.

I see a coding forum...but no computer support forum in sight...

I checked on Creative's site and the latest driver for Audigy is October '06. So if you haven't updated your drivers since then definitely do it.

If that doesn't work, make sure your speakers are plugged all the way into the jack. <.<

If it's kinda loose, the sound could drop occasionally.

Use headphones, My speakers do the same thing yours do, but with headphones the sound never drops.

Thanks... I have no clue on how to install drivers, so I'll wait for my dad to get back for him to do that. But I'll try out the headphone technique.

            Any more questions?

Sounds stupid, but do a virus scan and clear your cache. Worked for me =/. Even if it doesn't help, it can't hurt.

This download supports the following audio devices only:
                • Creative Sound Blaster® Audigy including Platinum and Platinum eX series
                • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 including Platinum, Platinum eX, and Value series
                • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS including Platinum and Platinum Pro series
                • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro and Sound Blaster Audigy 4
                • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA
Im not familiar with the 1800 but this driver is for all the audigy cards. So Scroll down click agree. I would save this to your Desktop for now. With a cable connection its about a 2 minute download. After it downloads to your desktop just run it like you would a .exe, Let it extract. Then it will start an install wizard, follow the next prompts till you get to finish. This may require a reboot. After the reboot test it and if its still doing the same thing you may want to try different speakers. If different speakers have the same problem get a new soundcard. I am pretty sure that covers it all. If any other PC questions please ask.
Also try testing the speakers in the headphone jack before purchasing new card.

                  Follow ELRayford's advice.

If you have to use headphones, it means that there is something wrong with either your speakers or your speaker wires/ports, which probably isn't the problem.
