    PC game refusing to play?

I just got Quake 4 for my computer.

I've installed it, downloaded the newest version of DirectX and when I click on play, it loads like it's going to start ( entire screen goes black for a few moments ) then it goes back to my desktop and the game completely closes.

Apparently I need 512MB of RAM, and my computer says it's only running 504.

I think it has something to do with my video card not being updated enough...
It says something about a 3D hardware Accelerator Card, which I've never heard of.
I've never had any problems like this before when trying to play a game.

I really hate to sound like such an idiot about it, but I really don't know that much about video/sound cards and the like.

Would I need to purchase more up to date cards?

Um, ok. May I help you?
Yes, I am going to need some more information. What is your social security, work hours, sperm count, sexual orientation, and hours of absence from your home?

Re: PC game refusing to play?

When was your PC bought? It most likely has onboard video that has no chance in its life to run Quake 4.

By the sound that your PC has about minimum required ram, means it was bought quite a while ago and is hopelessly out of date, most likely upgrading it by buying a new graphics card wont do a thing.

I am pretty certain you'd need to get a new PC.

If you don't want to look dumb, do some basic reading about PCs and hardware and how things work, you gonna save yourself a lot of trouble by doing that.
