Let me put it this way:
My school is a "magnet" school, specialized in the arts. Each focus course, or "major" class period has specific needs due to its content. In Theatre Technology and Stagecraft (my major) we build sets and set up for shows, and we need at least the 1 1/2 hours we have now for each class period.
The school board wants to change my school into a 7-period day school, shortening each period to 45 or 50 minutes each class. this would defeat the purpose of having a Magnet school if we can't do what we're supposed to with this limited amount of time.
