Why Do Guests Read The Forums??

Ok i just happened to look down and i saw that out of the 24 people here at the moment 22 of them were guests.....why do guests actually take their time and read these things?

lol. maybe they are actally members but on somethign that they cant log in like school or something.. and they can just check on something, and post later? i dont know. well if its someone really new to this site, they might have a chance to see and might register, thus upping the popularity of the site? that maybe..

Why wouldn't you read stuff as a guest?

Before I join any forum (unless it's one made my one of my friends) I always go through the posts. I like to see how the existing members treat new members. I don't wanna join someplace where you're going to be harrassed by arseholes simply for being new.

From experience of running a forum, the reason you see hundreds of guests logged in at a time, often browsing things, is that they are various spiders and bots trawling throught the internet gathering information about things.
