I've been playing chess since I was about 5, so I'm pretty good. If anyone wants to play hit me up on aim/msn.
chess for dummies:
1. Queen>rook>knight=bishop>pawn in value. More specifically, a Queen = 2 rooks or 2 bishops and a knight (or 2 knights and a bishop). 3 pawns = 1 knight or bishop, generally.
2. Never make your first move moving the pawns on the sides of the board up. You want to get your pawns in the center out and your knights up early on.
3. Never move your queen out early unless you can take an opponents piece. If not, don't.

I've been playing chess for about 10 years or so. Pretty good at it myself. I was undefeated in my school for 4 years. Never really cared about playing in important tournaments or anything.
In my final year I taught a guy how to play and played him most days and he ended up winning some all Ireland championship or something. Was pretty cool knowing that.
Still, I'd rather play someone face to face than over the computer.Comment

I had a 1710 rating a few years back before I quit. Didn't like it too much after getting decent at the game, wasn't as fun as it used to be. My last match was against some little asian prodigy who whipped me.Comment

I used to play on the Internet Chess Club maybe 5 or so years ago... i was one of the best atomic players on the server... it's a variant. I haven't played in years, though.

I play chess in the USCF and have about a 1300 rating. I kinda stopped though.. at the rate I was headed to level out around 1500 or 1600.. but it's been a couple years since I've played in tournament.Comment
