15 and 16. They actually write their own music and pay for all their own instruments, unlike those other little **** bands.

By the way, that guitarist from Squish, he sucks at playing Purple Haze. Good on Eruption but absolutely garbage on Hendrix. Guitar takes more than speed, kids.

And Squish still blows. Their song Crazy makes me want to fist myself.

I've listened to 1 or 2 children bands and they honestly should just stop. It's great to see children involved with music, but these kids need to work on learning the instrument and practicing. They're trying to be rock stars before they know how to rock.

The sad thing is though, that there are plenty of adult bands that play 3 or 4 chords over and over with a drum beat and sell thousands. People need to just get better overall lol.

I absolutely agree. People think that if you play fast you're good. Listen to Little Wing. Slow song with worlds of heart and is one of Hendrix's master pieces. Speed means nothing if it's just a note, you need to put heart and soul into it.

One more thing. I actually did a little searching around on the net before I made statements. The Smoosh girls father is a doctor, and they toured with the Eels. With a sound like that they have to go on novelty alone and I am guessing that their father put up the $$ to pay their way on the tour, because there is no way that if I owned a label and put them on tour that they would be able to break even on their own. They just arent that good. But he wth a keyboard and drum set only, set up is fast.
I read nothing about any of the other kids parents having money. Not from the Flaming Monkeys, Tiny Masters, or Squish. So you cant just make a blanket statement about their parents pushing them to popularity through money like Vanilla Ice and Paris Hilton where talent = 0, but money equals millions and billions.
OK, I correct myself a bit. The drummers father of Squish does own a small music store. But after searching that out on the net, the music store is really small and pretty much insignificant. Knowing what i know about small businesses, especially music stores, competing with the online E giants like Musicians Friend, I am betting he makes a blue collar wage in that store if he is turning a real profit at all.
So without that info, you have to assume they got where they did through hard work, persistence and appealing to the crowd. By the way, I just called and bought a Squish CD. MP3s suck in quality I have found. When a discerning ear is listening it is blatant.

It seems a little weird that somebody creates a profile and only posts 5 posts which seem to go to great lengths to push some band called Squish while subtly trashing all these other bands, some of whom have much higher profiles.

I am glad you bought the cd, although I would suspect you didnt need to because you obviously have an affiliation with the band. First clue: all sorts of information about who sponsors them, etc. Nobody should be impressed by that. Second clue: a passionate defense of their "not rich kid" status. Who cares? Music is music. Rich kids make music, poor kids make music. If money were all it took Paris Hilton wouldve had a hit record.

Shame on you, dissing Smoosh and all these other bands, some of whom may have more original ideas if not as developed musicianship. Double shame on you for such lame attempts at on-line marketing.

People are free to like or not like any of these bands but let people discuss the merits of bands without the cheap, deceptive shilling.

well scence nowadays is all about teenage angst so why not get teenage angst from from kids who are experiencing it right now....personally they probably couldn't right a meaningful song cause they need more experience to be able to do that

If you mean 4th graders, then yeah, kid bands blow. I would laugh at their attempt to rock out in their soprano voices. But if you mean teenage, then I say go for it. I've heard some good teenage bands myself.
